Adhishakthyathmaka Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple, Sri Kshetra, Horanadu Karnataka.
Sri Annapoorneshwari Temple is situated on the banks of Bhadra River in Horanadu, Chikamagaluru District of Karnataka, India. The temple is located in the picturesque surroundings of Western Ghats. Annapurna or Annapoorneshwari is the Hindu goddess of food and nourishment. The uniqueness of the temple is that everyone who visits the temple is served with a meal and can take shelter within the temple premises.
The temple is also called “Sri Kshetra Horanadu” or Sri Adhishakthyathmaka Annapoorneshwari Temple. It is believed several centuries back the idol in the temple was consecrated by Agasthya Maharshi. The entire structure has a conventional South Indian style. 400 devotees can be accommodated in the Mandapam and the dining hall ‘Annapoorna’ (600 sq feet) can contain 900 guests at a time are housed within the temple complex.
Gods Worshiped
The presiding deity is Goddess Annapoorneshwari seen in a standing posture on a peetha with Shanku, Chakra, Sri Chakra and Devi Gayatri on each of her four hands. This golden idol of the Goddess was installed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. The other deities enshrined within the temple are Prasanna Ganapathi, Shree Naga Sannidhi, Anjaneya and the Navagrahas.
Temple Timings
The temple darshan timings are from 6.30 am – 2.00 pm; and in the evening: 7.00pm – 9.30pm.
Mahamangalarathi Timings are at 9:00 am, 1:30 pm, and 9:00 pm
Kunkumarchana Timings are at 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Evening from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Prasada Bojana Timings are from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, Night from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Festivals
The temple’s annual festival is held in the first week of April every year. Akshaya Thadige, Samuhika Upanayana, Navrathri Mahotsava, Deepothsava, Rathothsava, Maharathothsava, Havi are the major festivals celebrated in the temple.
