Indian Media is receiving Criticism from the Nepali People for converting this tragedy as a sort of TV show to enhance their TRP ratings and also for using this incident as a PR Exercise to promote Modi and his Government as the real saviors . Also many were angered by the fact that most of the Choppers and Aircraft that were used for relief had more of Indian journalists and it would have been better had those places been used to ferry the victims or used to take relief materials .
This is not the first time these sort of Criticisms have come and unfortunately due to the mistakes of a few Media houses , the entire Indian Media is getting a bad name . Hope they take corrective measures to undo this damage .

India-origin billionaires to build 1,200 houses in Nepal

India-origin billionaires to build 1,200 houses in Nepal

May 3, 2015

KATHMANDU: Two Indian-origin billionaires in the UK have offered to build 1,200 quake-resistant houses in the affected villages of the country.

Mukesh Kumar Sehgal, managing director of UK-based SISMO Company offered 1,000 quake-resistant houses, while, Shree Prakash Lohia, founder and chairman of Indorama Corporation offered to build 200 houses through his Lohia Foundation.

Sehgal met Nepal's Acting ambassador to Britain, Tej Bahadur Chettri, on Friday and offered to build 1,000 quake-resistant houses in Nepal, Ekantipur reported.

"Our company is well experienced in building houses with new technology and if Nepal government accepts the offer, he will start construction of houses in remote areas that are severely hit," Sehgal said.

"Initially we will construct temporary houses so that affected people can be relocated. Later once debris is cleared, we will build the new settlement," Sehgal said.

Meanwhile, Nepali billionaire businessman Upendra Mahato has announced Rs 150 million in assistance for the relief and rehabilitation of the earthquake victims.

Mahato is the founding president of Non Resident Nepali Association.

"Rs 30 million will be spent on immediate relief package such as tents, food stuff and clothing. He said Rs 120 million will be spent for the construction of quake-resistant school buildings in the highly affected region," he said yesterday.

The number of houses destroyed in quake-hit Nepal is over 1,60,000, nearly twice the number of households wrecked in the 1934's deadly temblor that has been the country's worst disaster of all times.

At least 7,056 people have been confirmed dead from the 7.9-magnitude quake while the number of injured has reached 14,227, making the April 25 temblor the country's worst in over eight decades.

And now the threat of human trafficking from Nepal! Sad state of affairs!

[h=1]Human trafficking fear looms large over earthquake-hit Nepal[/h] Pankaj Upadhyay | Mail Today | New Delhi, May 4, 2015

With death in thousands and many more believed to be buried under the rubble following the April 25 deadly earthquake in Nepal, the Himalayan nation will take a long time before it is able to stand up. Meanwhile, as hundreds still search for their loved ones, there is fear among the security agencies in India that women and children in Nepal could fall prey to traffickers.

Nepal has been the hub for human trafficking for a very long time. Fear is that unscrupulous elements could well take advantage of the situation that is prevailing there. While strict vigil is being maintained at all the border posts, security personnel at the Indira Gandhi International Airport are also on their toes.

The immigration department and the Airport Police are both on a state of high alert at the IGI Airport. Sources tell Headlines Today that an expert team is already in place looking into the profiling of passengers. "Immigration Department has to see whether a passenger is genuine or not. Our expert team is qualified to check the suspicious movements or gestures of passengers.

CISF intelligence is also in place. We are always in touch with the police and if there is any suspicion regarding any passenger, we refer the matter to the Delhi Police," said a source in the Immigration Department while speaking on condition of anonymity.

Sources said that special attention is being placed on those passengers who are first-time flyers. There is a thorough check of the documents as well. When asked on the human trafficking issue, another official in the Immigration Department added: "It's a challenge. It has been there in the past as well. If the documents are all fine, there is nothing much you can do about it. It is only when someone complains, then you make a move. But, we are sensitive to this and are making efforts to remain vigilant."

The inflow of people from Nepal is on and the CISF intelligence is also aware that there are many taking connecting flights as well. There are additional checks in place for passengers catching another aircraft. Vigil is also being kept on domestic air trips.

The Airport Police has placed a tight security web outside the terminal. An Airport police official said: "We have done a lot of homework. There are some preliminary measures that we have taken. Generally, it is the road route which is under scanner but we are on alert here as well."

This senior police official told Headlines Today that local intelligence has been activated and that sources among the hawkers, taxi booths and taxi unions have been asked to alert police if there is any suspicion regarding any passenger in a group, especially where girls and children are involved. Additionally, police in plainclothes are active around the chain of hotels in Mahipalpur area as well.
