[h=1]3-day Sanskrit conference begins in Chennai[/h]Chennai: The three-day Sanskrit Sammelan began at Meenakshi College For Women here today with eminent personalities from various walks of life coming together on a single platform to heap praise on the ancient language and its relevance in the modern day.

Former ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan (photo on right) said great knowledge possessed by Indians in the ancient times in the field of medicine had its in roots in Sanskrit, a language which had many scholarly compositions on many other topics.
While many compositions of musical giants like Thyagaraja were in Telugu, the most important ones like ‘Jagadanandakaraka’ and ‘Samajavaragamana’ were in Sanskrit.

It is in the same language that Chanakya's ‘Artha Sashtra’ offers valuable lessons on management and political affairs.

Though Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages, the spread is very difficult, since it has no permanent place in India. In spite of its influence on many Indian languages, its acceptance as a link language is not possible, as Hindi already has taken its place.

Since it is in the hands of those who treat Sanskrit as a language of Slogams, Bhajans, story telling of epics with lot of superstitions etc., its reach to wider section of people is highly doubtful. In TN, already it is more or less being looked upon as a language of Bs.

The VIP list included retd brahmin civil servant sporting a tirunamam and head of space agency . It appeared to be an upper caste dominated meet. But the status of

sanskrit school and college teachers , vadhyars who perform pujas in marriage ,priests performing yagnas in sanskit are far worse than those of urdu/arabic language

who are well looked after .with change in govt at the centre, we might see more encouragement but tamilnadu may not welcome it .

Sanskrit is a dead language and its demise possibly started with Panini making so many rules. It has an antique value however. And it is good to have such conferences in which living sanskrit scholars are honoured. I will suggest that all living sanskrit scholars, without job, pension or other steady source of income, should be granted a special pension or grant of about Rs. 25,000/= per month for their life time so that they won't regret having wasted their life time studying such a language.

vAdhyArs etc., really have no knowledge of sanskrit; they are just parrots repeating whatever they learned.

It is in Tamil Nadu more particularly at Chennai such a conference is being held and definitely not in Delhi. Let the poster take initiative to encourage sanskrit at Delhi.

My relative who lost his parent recently called a south indian sanskrit scholar from sanskrit college in delhi to give a discourse on religion in his memory.

He preferred that to vadhyars performing rituals on 10th day ceremony after death . He invited a cosmopolitan group of friends and acquaintances in addition to relatives.

He spoke in english, hindi and tamil also quoting from sanskrit scriptures. He was paid a good amount for his lecture.

This is typical blah blah.

What is Delhi's contribution to encourage Sanskrit language???

If you know something, please contribute.

Don't be beating the bush writing blah blah...

I can speak for myself.

I happen to stay in delhi.

I do not speak for the city.

You can speak to Arvind kejriwal .

He will tell you about delhis contribution.

He has been elected to speak for the city.

He has just returned to delhi after visiting a famous temple in karnataka.

Lot of brahmin boys met him there.

In case you meet him he will conside giving you a party ticket to contest from chennai and you can promote sanskrit there and in delhi

You can speak for yourself …..that is fine.

So you cannot speak about Delhi where you stay or live for several decades

Then why do you write about Tamil Nadu about which you have absolutely poor knowledge?

Try to learn more about Delhi, educate yourself, update your information about Delhi first.

You can also Meet Arwind Kejriwal speak to him and express your willingness to contribute to the growth the sanskrit at Delhi.

He may consider your representation and may do something. Lot of public are meeting him daily at Delhi. He has an effective redressal mechanism.

Think about promoting sanskarit at Delhi.

By going through your earlier declarations one can learn that you are capable of fabricating mismatching horoscopes.

Such postings of yours about Tamil Nadu stick out like a sore thumb.

[h=1]‘People have been misled on Sanskrit for 60 years’[/h][h=2]Noted Tamil writer and Sahitya Akademi award winner Joe D’ Cruz says the language is window to India’s culture.[/h]Noted Tamil writer and Sahitya Akademi award winner, Joe D’ Cruz, on Friday charged that people have been “misguided for 60 years” about Sanskrit and had been kept away from learning it.

Speaking at the inauguration of the three-day ‘ Samskrit for Samanya’ , a conference at the Meenakshi College for Women here that seeks to take the language to the common people, Mr. D’Cruz asserted that Sanskrit was the window to India’s culture.

“Where is the great knowledge, culture of this country? We have been taken away from it,” he said.

The writer said there was a notion that Sanskrit was the preserve of the higher echelons of the society and it was the language of the Hindu texts. “But I must tell you it is great literature. You will find our heritage, culture through it,” Mr. D’Cruz pointed out.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I would rather play villain in a tamil movie.Thats more enticing. You are giving me a nice build up.

Arvindswamy , a hero of yesteryears is playing villain in tamil movie.

He says he enjoyed the experience

Horoscopes are the most misused reasons for rejecting people who are otherwise good matches.

My exposures to tamilnadu is far more than most tamils in tamilnadu.

I can get many things done in tamilnadu better than many locals.

I am sure you may not be able to say the same about delhi.regarding yourself.

Just because one has a chennai base, it is not wise to claim any special ownership. It is the same for any town or city of india.

I learn what I require to about my city of present stay to enjoy the good things here and avoid the muck.

Since I know the city inside out , there is a comfort level higher than others.

Delhi is a political city. Politicians are dime a dozen . The city is infested with them.

Politics one can discuss and enjoy. The wise keep a safe distance.

This amounts to self boasting.

The members in this Forum knows pretty well the way you present your dream world imaginations which are nothing to do with ground reality.

Any way you keep all of us entertained, be it as a Villain or a Soothsayer.lol

It is not self boosting.

Boasting is a better word.

Pl Write better english atleast.

I find your posts equally interesting.

Thank you.

You can give a link for various posts instead of copy pasting. It will save a lot of space.

I shall admire you more if you write something of your own instead of bad mouthing others.

It is a typographical error.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Since corrected.

Everything can be pardoned but a tamil brahmin writing bad english is the biggest crime he can commit.lol

Value does not get added by bad english . They get subtracted.

An idea can be soft coated in queens english spoken in british accent. Even tamil accent will do if it is grammatically correct.

It is one legacy that tamil brahmins have inherited which other castes have not taken away from brahmins.

Wasting time on copy paste is a crime . It wastes valuable IT space.

If a link is there only those interested will care to open it.

Otherwise most will skip a thread on seeing the posters name.

Twitter became a hit because one can write only one sentence.

Most use abbreviations in net language.

We are not writing petitions to government or local courts.

Cyber space has its own code of conduct.

How can we not admire you.?

Only we would like to enhance our reading experience.

Everything can be pardoned but a tamil brahmin writing Tanglish without knowing to use Tamil fonts is the biggest crime he can commit.lol

Value does not get added by using good english .

In fact it is you who waste most of the cyber space by writing blah blah postings again and again.

If you feel 'copy n pasting' is a crime, you should address the members who are doing it mostly and regularly.

And if you don't like my doing the copy n pasting, you can simply skip or ignore my threads & postings

But you have no right to advice me to desist from that. It is absolutely my prerogative and my choice

And if you have got anything about me like bad mouthing etc. you are free to approach the Moderator.

In fact it is you who often resorted to bad mouthing and it is your postings that were deleted earlier on complaint. For your information so for none of my postings were deleted by the Moderator against complaint.

There were lot of complaints against your using the word 'Mudargal' in one posting.

I repeat, what is important in communication is conveying the thoughts and mind.

You don't know how to 'cut and paste'.

You yourself had opened few threads based on news published in Hindustan Times and other English Dailies.

They are not your original work.

Since you don't know how to 'cut n paste exercise', you can't ask others to desist from this.

As for Cyberspace, you need not worry about it, and there is Moderator to take care of it.

Try to type out in Tamil fonts in future instead of Tanglish more especially being a member of a Tamil Brahmins Forum.

This suggestion is made only to enhance reading pleasure.
