தற்போதையை விலைவாசி உயர்வினால் ஹோட்டலில் சென்று சாப்பிட்டால் பட்ஜெட்டுக்கு கட்டுப்படியாகாத நிலையில், ஈரோட்டில் இன்னமும் ஒரு ரூபாய்க்கு முழு சாப்பாடு போடும் மனிதர்களும் இருக்கத்தான் செய்கின்றனர்.

ஈரோடு அரசு மருத்துவமனை அருகே ஏ.எம்.வி வீட்டு சாப்பாடு மெஸ் செயல்பட்டு வருகிறது. இந்த மெஸ்சினை வெங்கட்ராமன் என்பவர் நடத்தி வருகிறார். அரசு மருத்துவமனை அருகே மெஸ் இருப்பதால் பெரும்பாலும் நோயாளிகளின் உறவினர்கள் இங்கு சாப்பாடு வாங்க வருவார்கள். கடந்த 2007ஆம் ஆண்டு இந்த மெஸ்சுக்கு தோசை வாங்க பெண் ஒருவர் வந்துள்ளார். 10 ரூபாய்க்கு வெங்கட்ராமன் 3 தோசை கொடுத்துள்ளார்.
