Priest in Andhra Pradesh to carry a Dalit man into Vaishnavite temple

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vijaya Kumar’s source of inspiration was CS Rangarajan, priest of the Balaji temple at Chilkur on the outskirts of Hyderabad, who on April 16 carried a Dalit on his shoulders into Ranganatha temple at Jiaguda where Parasari offered prayers.

The recent initiative undertaken by a priest in Hyderabad of carrying a local Dalit devotee on his shoulders into a Vaishnavite temple has inspired another priest from Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district to re-enact the ceremony in a move to propagate the concept of “equality of all.”

The priest, Kalyanapuram Vijaya Kumar, will carry 70-year-old Kullai Chinna Narsimhulu, on his shoulders into the Mohana Ranganayaka Swamy temple in Guntur town, on June 14, in a procession.

Organ transplant racket surfaces in Tamil Nadu

International patients get priority in cadaver transplants, bypassing long list of Indians

An organ transplant racket has surfaced in Tamil Nadu. Officials of the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare have found that hearts harvested from brain-dead patients were given to foreign nationals, bypassing Indian patients on the waiting list.

In 2017, foreigners got about 25% of all heart transplants in the State and 33% of lung transplants.

Based on a specific input that at least three hearts retrieved from brain-dead patients were given to international patients in recent months in Chennai, the Directorate General of Health Services convened an urgent meeting in New Delhi recently and framed strict guidelines for allocation of organs to foreigners.

“It is difficult to digest that Indian hearts are not matching with our own Indian patients but matching with foreigners. How’s it possible... It seems that Indian money is not matching with foreigners’ money. Really sorry to write that we are so greedy (that) we don’t bother to help poor Indian patients and (are) trying to manipulate (the waiting list) for foreigners,” Prof. Vimal Bhandari, Director, National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), said in a message on a WhatsApp group set up for the purpose of organ allocation.

ED seizes Rs 44.75 crore worth of Patna land of RJD chief Lalu Prasad's family

    ED seizes under construction building

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today seized 11 plots of land in Patna worth Rs 44.75 crore, attached by the agency in the name of a firm linked to RJD chief Lalu Prasad's family, as part of the IRCTC hotel money laundering case.

The central probe agency was allowed to take possession of the seized assets by a designated PMLA authority recently.

Officials said possession documents were notified and a huge notice board, bearing the signature of Assistant Director of the Delhi zonal office-I, was today put up at the contiguous plots, measuring about three acres, in Danapur near the Bihar capital.

The action has been undertaken under section 8 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, they said.

The central probe agency had provisionally attached the plots, valued at Rs 44.75 crore (market rate), in December last year under the PMLA, in connection with the IRCTC hotel allotment case.

The authority, in its recent order, had said that the assets were "involved in money laundering."

    Congress Wins Bengaluru's Jayanagar Seat

    0 Not allowed!
Today's result in Jayanagar elections is in the expected lines. This has been a BJP stronghold and held by (Late) B N Vijayakumar, a Brahmin candidate, who died suddenly after filing his nomination as a BJP candidate. BJP put his brother for the seat. But he was defeated by a narrow margin of 2889 votes by Congress candidate Mrs Soumya Reddy, first time candidate and daughter of Mr Ramalinga Reddy, former Home Minister. JD(S) wisely withdrew from the elections and supported Congress.

Jayanagar a middle class locality of educated people, always returned BJP. But this time most of the BJP supporters did not vote to show their displeasure against BJP's neglect of middle class.

If the Central Government did not wake up and take corrective action in time, I am afraid results of next elections in 2019 will not be different. BJP may have to face resistance from its own supporters.
People's expectations are high and they do not accept statistics and advertisements in media.

No new private schools in Karnataka for 3 years

Decision comes as no. of students dwindles in govt schools; 2,429 requests for new schools

    Express News Service

BENGALURU: In view of the dwindling student strength in government schools, the state government is planning to check the mushrooming of private schools. It may not give permission to set up new private schools in the state for at least the next three years. Over 2,429 applications to set up new schools by private managements are pending before the department of primary and secondary education for the current academic year. And, according to sources in the department, these are unlikely to get the official nod.

“Due to RTE, the number of students in government schools has come down. Under RTE, 25 % seats at private schools are given to students from economically weaker backgrounds. Increasing number of private schools within a 5-km radius of government schools is also a threat,” said a senior official of the department. “The department is therefore thinking of freezing permission for opening of new private schools. A final decision is yet to be taken,” the official added.

If a US government plan to sell six Apache attack helicopters to India goes ahead, the country’s defence capability to counter ground-armoured threats will increase.

Washington has approved the $930 million deal to sell the Indian military six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, the State Department said on Tuesday (12 June). The agreement, which is awaiting the approval of the US Congress, is expected to go ahead if no US lawmaker objects to the contract.

Boeing and Tata have begun to produce Apache fuselages at a plant in India, but Tuesday’s approval relates to a direct sale of finished products from US manufacturers. The lead contractors are US arms, aviations and engineering giants Lockheed Martin, General Electric and Raytheon.

In addition to aircraft, the contract includes night vision sensors, GPS guidance and hundreds of Hellfire anti-armour and Stinger air-to-air missiles.

China curbs, PM Narendra Modi make Indian industrial firms world beaters

Modi’s focus on electrification has buoyed demand for cables and wires used in the power secto

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Indian companies are dominating the ranks of the world’s best-performing industrial firms as they benefit from neighboring China’s pollution crackdown and billions in domestic infrastructure spending.

Of the 15 best-performing stocks over five years, eight are from Asia’s No. 3 economy and range from graphite electrode makers to equipment providers. Companies such as HEG Ltd., Graphite India Ltd. and Finolex CablesNSE -1.23 % Ltd. have benefited from China’s pollution control measures as well as India’s pledge to electrify even the remotest village, said Gopal Agrawal, portfolio manager at Tata Asset Management Ltd., which oversees $3 billion in equity funds.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on electrification has buoyed demand for cables and wires used in the power sector. India added 100,000 circuit kilometers of interstate transmission capacity in the last four years, according to a June 5 statement from India’s power ministry. The nation has also pledged to spend $88 billion this fiscal year on roads, railways and other infrastructure.
