Sri Parthasarathy Swamy temple in Chennai traces its origin back to the 8th century. Sri Parthasarathy Swami temple is situated in Triplicane, Chennai and is dedicated to Parthasarathy, Lord Vishnu. It was built in the eighth century by the Pallavas and later renovated by the Vijayanagar rulers.
There are five shrines for Vishnu in his various forms.
The Utsavar is Parthasarathy. The image of Krishna bears the scars from Bheeshma's arrows.

- The main shrine is for Venkatakrishnan with Rukmini, Balaraman, Satyaki, Anirudha, Pradyumna - in a standing posture facing east.
- There are shrines for Ranganathar in a reclining posture with a separate sanctum for his consort Vedavalli.
- Rama along with Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata, Shatrugna and Hanuman, facing east.
- Varadarajan seated on the Garuda facing east
- Narasimhar in a seated posture facing west.
