Why we are using Arugam Pul (Green) for doing Pooja to Sri Vinayaga?
Once, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi were playing Dice Game (Dayakattai in Tamil) with Nandhi (Bull God) as Judge. Even though, Goddess Parvathi won the game, Nandhi told that Lord Shiva, his master won the game. Because of this Goddess Got angry and cursed Nandhi to born as Human being. Nandhi asked for Cure from the Curse. The Goddess told him that, if you sacrifice one of valued thing of yours to Lord Ganesha, you will be given a remedy for the cure of Curse. As Nandhi is a Form of Cow, he told that he will sacrifice the Druva Truna (Druva means Arugam, Truna means Grass (Pull)) to Lord Ganesha. Because of this, we are using Arugampul as a worshipping tool to Lord Ganesha.
Using Arugampul will get rid of our Sins. Arugam Pul – Druva Truna – Cynodon Dactylon (Botanical Name) Note- all grasses are not the druva grass. So try to find it by its unique smell.
(Not a single Sin is without effect on doer. No worship, no prayer can reduces pre determined punishment for Sin.
Forgiving Sin by religion or by individual is a soft way to tell that please do not do it again. but one is not escaping from punishment of already done Sin; However Sincere Prayer can reduce the effect of certan tpes of sins.
That is the reason whyevery religions are teaching us to be good, honest, kind, Speak truth etc by this one reduces chances of committing Sins and enjoys more peace then pains during life)
