Lawyers speak for money! At times they just speak!!!

[h=3]Supreme Court tells Delhi gang rape lawyers to explain documentary remarks[/h] By Suchitra Mohanty NEW DELHI (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - The Supreme Court on Tuesday called on two lawyers to explain comments made in a controversial BBC documentary on the gang rape and murder of a woman on a Delhi bus, after female advocates said the remarks were "inhumane" and "unjustifiable". The documentary "India's Daughter" was banned by the government earlier this month, when the home minister said remarks by Mukesh Singh - one of four men convicted for the December 2012 crime - in which he blamed the victim, were derogatory and an affront to the dignity of women. The remarks, widely broadcast before the ban was imposed, also prompted the Supreme Court Women Lawyers Association to seek action against the convicted men's defence lawyers, Ajai Pratap Singh and Manohar Lal Sharma, who were also interviewed in the documentary.

Shouldn't we feel happy that it is given while the prestigious winners

are still alive and mobile on a wheelchair and not bestowed posthumously! :)

[h=3]Why do they have to be wheelchair-bound to get Dadasaheb Phalke?[/h]On Monday, when actor-producer Shashi Kapoor was conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2014, one recurring thought that marred the recognition was if this could be the dreaded 'better late than never' mindset that afflicts our powers that be. Without doubt one of the most versatile and iconic, personalities in our film industry, his last big contribution for the big screen was way back in 1998, for Jamil Dehlavi's film Jinnah. Take a look at some other Dadasaheb Phalke awardees in the past, and it is the same disturbing trend. It was the same even with Raj Kapoor: The doyen of India cinema was recognised for his contributions in 1987, when he was 63, and passed away in 1988!

[h=3]Mumbai: Corrupt officials did not spare even rape survivors, farmers[/h]How low would a person have to sink to seek a 'cut' from the money being handed over to a rape survivor? Vinod Bhosale, an official from the Women and Child Welfare department, no less, could have the answer to that question. It's all about the money: Even poor farmers, many of whom have been driven to suicide because of their financial situation, were not spared by the officials. What’s even worse is that Bhosale is just one of 83 government officials, figuring on a list compiled by the state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), who were caught red handed and arrested for taking bribes in 2014 from the poorest of the poor to give them the benefits they are entitled to under various government schemes.
