Can something eternal be abolished? It is an oxymoron obviously. Eternal implies that there are no changes and it remains same. But do you interpret it as not adapting to times? No not that way. It means all possible changes are taken into account with perfect balance between them and existing in a state of stillness.
Change need not happen. All changes are reflected in the stillness. It is in sync with all the times and hence timeless.
Those who don't understand this concept need to take pains to do that and get the right understanding. It so happens sometimes even if you are convinced about it you oppose it because you are confronted with other pragmatic issues. Actually a thorough understanding of the concept of the eternal gives the necessary wisdom to cope up even with the stiffest of pragmatic problems and offers a win win situation.
