Thousands and thousands of misiles and rockets are flying at various places in this world. No one feels there is air pollution.

But stereotypically they are worried of air pollution only when Deepavali is nearing.

Again they immediately forget about air pollution during Christmas , New Year celebrations etc. when there ill be cracker bursting and revelry all over the world.

I see sinister aims in cracker banning only during Diwali.

The restrictions were brought two years back after the apex court fixed two hours on the day for bursting crackers in the wake of complaints of severe air pollution.

Diwali & the firecracker debate: Since when has it been a light and sound show

Ahead of Diwali, the environmental concerns surrounding the bursting of firecrackers have once again taken centre stage.

There is so much brouhaha over burning and bursting of crackers during Diwali. The din of the debate is drowning many vital issues. And as the arguments and counter-arguments assume monstrous proportions, it is time to reflect and rethink.

True, Diwali or Deepawali is a festival of deeps (lamps or lights). Hindus celebrate the day to mark the return of Ram, Sita and Laxman to Ayodhya from a 14-year exile after defeating Ravana. While sharing sweets and gifts and performing puja, many also revel in burning and bursting crackers. However, with eco-awareness growing, there are people who have been protesting against it.

First half an hour fireworks started in a grand way with Sara vedi et al et al. But second half reduced to otha vedi and oosi vedi finally. I know the whole thing is technology backed. One more nail on the coffin of technology for devious purposes.

Let's see how they fare in the coming two days.

Air pollution in Delhi comes down dramatically. They may say it's because of rain. But it did come down.

Diwali in India: A Feast of Light & Sound

Visiting India during Diwali is quite an experience. Read on to know more about the grand festival of lights.

Visitors to India will be struck by the sights and sounds that assail the senses during the celebrations of Diwali, or Deepavali. Diwali in India is celebrated with a range of practices, such as gambling until the early hours of the morning, buying new clothes and lighting small lamps known as diyas.

Over the course of five special days in late October or November every year, different parts of India erupt in a celebration of light and sound. Known as Diwali in the North and Deepavali in the South, the ‘festival of lights’ is celebrated with the purchase of new clothes, the lighting of sparklers, fire-crackers and auspicious pujas or offerings to the various gods of prosperity and good luck.

Diwali might originally have emerged as a festival celebrating an agricultural harvest, but contemporary celebrations do not immediately signal this.

Bursting firecrackers on Deepawali is an ancient tradition – and no, gunpowder was not invented in China

In this thread, I will debunk the MYTH that bursting firecrackers is a new innovation that was recently introduced into Deepavali festivities. It will be shown that bursting firecrackers has always been integral and central part of Deepavali.

At the very core of this entire MYTH is the presumption that Gunpowder (cf. fireworks) was invented in China in 9th century and brought to Bharat by Muslim rulers. This THREAD debunks this widespread MYTH and throws light on the unknown/hidden history of Deepavali & gunpowder.

………………

……………….

What does it all show? With advancement of technology, everything changes. But the basic concept of using combustibles to make noise and illuminate the sky on the day of Deepavali existed since ancient times. This was not a foreign import or medieval 16th century concept.

In Sanskrit the original meaning of Ulkā (उल्का) was a “meteor”. If the ancient combustibles used in Deepavali were just lamps, they would not have been given this name. They are called Ulkās because of the similar visual appearance of crackers to meteors.

This is common sense.

Befitting humiliation for those who would stoop to any low level for the sake of power and money. They stand stripped of all power in front of the world now.

Spirituality overpowers technology with ease. Btw I don't think there is real science in the technology
