The answer to the question in the OP is 'it all depends'
It depends on the outlook towards physical intimacy of the couple involved and prior lack of experience by either or both involved.
I think if conditions are right in an arranged marriage where there is some attraction as a basis for selection, neither is afraid of being physically close to a 'stranger', nature takes over and physical intimacy is the result. Emotional intimacy naturally follows over time because the experience is new for both parties and they both tend to view the experience as something special.
I have this unverifiable feeling that many Indian women are rarely ever satisfied in a physical sense and put up with whatever they get. The inexperienced fellow with first ever experience on the 'first night' may never have been properly taught, never tried to learn, and remain clueless. Women are too afraid to take responsibility for their needs and remains clueless. I hope I am wrong.
