Very nice .Thanks JJ for posting this on womens day.

This should inspire other women to become high achievers accepting their weaknesses and putting their past
away.

There is a wave of liberalism sweeping among educated employed women. They are openly asserting for their

right to gender equality in workplace-Demanding same compensation as men ,asserting at home forcing men

to contribute to work at home, not putting up with abuse from men at home or work place and posting Me

Too posts advertising the abuse they had undergone from men in the past. Many are walking out of bad

marriages and feeling confident that they will find better mates after a split.I increasing hear about divorces

within a few years of marriage on various grounds. Relationships with friends and college and work mates is

the more preferred way and arranged marriages are big no .Most think that they have a right over their bodies

and their dress preference is their choice.Getting in and out of relationship is becoming common.Society is

becoming more open and less hypocritical. This change is for the betterment of womenfolk.

I think women's and men's day must be celebrated all days. Man and woman have different capabilities and perse are not equals. Liberalism propounded by some women are not only corrupting men but shaking the very foundation of family.

Parents of girls/women should let go of their daughters after their marriage. Many hang on to them expecting

them to supporting them for a lifetime.Besides they would like to decide whom the girl/women should marry.

They make nuisances of themselves thrusting their outdated value system and pass on prejudices regarding

caste ,religion. They push them to practice religious rituals and decide who should be their friends .They pass

on their puritanical food habits make them unsuitable for living in modern world.

Most girls would like to escape from home to hostel in another city to experience life to the fullest

independantly either for education or job. They would prefer to date and decide whom to go out with.

Peer group of girl /women look down on them for going for arranged marriage.

Most feel happiest if they can escape to a foreign country and not return if possible.

India is not safe for young girls/women.We are a sex starved nation.

No sense in sermonising about responsibility towards family[read parents] community [ mostly made up of

elderly perverted women and men]

Men are not dumb angels. They do not look up to young girl /women to teach them the facts of life. Some are

Mummy's boys and most girls/women avoid their company.

Economic independence of career women has led to disintegration of family and it is time for parents to

accept the harsh reality and look after themselves without expecting support from daughters.

It is conceded that western countries are not close to heaven and also have their share of conservatives

We indians are considered considered a bit above the coloured american by the whites .mostly ignored.

However It is a shade better than india as far as an indian girl/women getting a personal space and their

space being not violated.

Other indians there probably do not dig into their personal preferances and less judgemental about their

tastes ,dress and preferences.

Their laws are stricter and indian girls/women can feel safer at least.

Indian women who go even as a tourist to western countries feel liberated as far as dress , food preferances

and feel free to do their own thing without breaking the laws there.Their privacy does not get violated.

Life style and decisions of aaj ka nari is not Appa driven but (downloaded ) App. driven . Down to earth Appas and Ammas understand the realities and are happy . Others sulk and grudge! They (aaj ka nari) do not compromise either on their freedom or on their responsibilities and duties towards their parents! They are balanced ! This is my experience ! May their tribe increase!

JJ ji Thanks .

A very balanced post.

How many parents are down to earth accepting the realities and making peace with their children?

Freedom without boundaries is rare for young women .

Having to balance career ,in laws, their own parents and husband is a uphill task for most women.

Many get dysfunctional and their priorities get skewed.

When they give up career for even some years to concentrate on family they get abused often.

Marriage breakdowns are getting common .Happiness appears to be a dream for many.

Sorry, I have to disagree as usual :) - lot of unnecessary gloating is on, in this thread.

First off, a lot of young women are destroying their lives in the name of feminism, freedom and it is cool to break away from the traditions, parents, in laws, relatives.

1. Most of them are unmarried due to thier high standards of choosing life partners.

2. Many of them marry wrong partners based on their unconventional choices and end up regretting when it breaks down completely. I mean, no partner can live up their standards.

3. Many of them are living alone, divorced, separated completely isolated from family.

4. Those who are still married, end up with multiple side affairs to spice up their tragic marriages.

Indian girls are conflicted, they want freedom, they want to be modern but at the same time, they don't want to be too modern, they don't want their partners to be too modern.

They cannot accept affairs, decepition, etc..that comes from such freedom. They are not tough like American girls to pickup and rebuild when their marriage crashes down.

Once their marriage crashes, they become over traditional and look for mamas boys,

Every generation has to learn the tough lessons painfully, in the USA, the hippie generation rebelled against all traditions and they were lost forever. Today's girls in USA, marry early and many are conservatives.

India needs to go through one lost generation before girls realise unconventional choices leads to unconventional consequences which they cannot live with,

I mean, how can any youngster be more wiser than "1000s of yrs of accumulated wisdom residing in our traditions and customs and thoughts in choosing life partners"??

Suddenly, parents are all bad, nosy and they should keep away from kids before, during and after marriage..in laws are always bad, etc.. LOL.

Please understand, our younger generation is messing up their lives due to the junk influence from the west !!

the second one is.......DATING...DRUGS......DIVORCE.....FINALLY DESTRUCTION......so many like second theory..

it is very easy to follow than the first one...i may be wrong...but this is my perception...

Ref Jaykays post above,
In new india high standards of work and ethics are practised at work place in MNCs and IT companies.

If women set up high standards in choice of mates they want to spend their lives with, it is to be commended.

If mates do not live up to their expectations and women walk out of such relationships it is not wrong. In many

such cases, men become drop outs, give up jobs and take to drinks, drugs. in older days women put up with

abuse and ill treatment, suffered in laws.

Now Women walk out of such relationships . If they think that men do not measure up to their exacting

standards and they deserve better, why suffer and be unhappy ?.

Such women are not wrong in thinking that they can live independantly divorced or awaiting one.

There is no shortage of men in brahmin community [that is the situation at present in tamilnadu] who will

marry such women.

If womens" family[parents] does not accept such a separated woman, the issue is who needs whom more

A divorced woman can always get a better choice next time she looks for a match. At least in metros

remarriages has become common place.Due to past experience, the same woman might choose a better

mate.

Matrimonial sites are full of such women looking for a mate.

Economic independance of women has made better choice of mate possible

Most working women in 19 to 25 age groups are looking for dating friends, easy relationships, possible live

in before saying yes to a permanent relationship.Even after engagement they would like to wait for a few

months to be absolutely sure

Times have changed. It is time conventional conservative parents changed their mindset and accept the

new realities.

Otherwise they might end up in senior citizen homes unwanted by their own children

They are not for compromise stick to their ideas & are proud about their வைராக்கியம்! I know one whose son a doctor married a Kerala Thiyaa nurse ! The girl was never allowed in side his house வைராக்கியம் took him to (பூலோக) வைகுண்டம்! He moved to Srirangam late in his life when his doctor son joined PG in Madurai Medical College - moved to Madurai from Munnar estate where he was working and father died in Srirangam. He (Father,) could have had better medical care in Madurai since his son was a doctor and daughter in law was a qualified nurse! வைகுண்ட ப்ராப்தி & No வைத்தய ப்ராப்தி !

The above has nothing to do with my post. My point is that the youngsters are "ruining their own lives with all this feminism, freedom, independence,etc..." So beware before one goes down that path of the lost hippie generation.
