Then she becomes free to marry another person.[/h][h=1]The customs of the Yerukala people, settled mainly in theplains of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and other tribes werediscussed during a one-day seminar on "Life and languages of the southIndian tribes," conducted by the Centre for Endangered Languages ofUniversity of Madras on Friday.[FONT=&quot]


"Anysexual intercourse against the Yerukala customs is treated as a social stigmaand punished by excommunication. Only adulteration is prohibited in this community.
But ladies could marry any number of times after settling the dues (the amount received at the time of marriage)and after getting approval from their community punchayat.
