Suppose my sister's daughter has attained puberty, what all is expected from me?

In terms of giving jewelry, arrangements for the function etc.

Asking because we don't know the customs and wife is not Tamilian. Finding it extremely hard to find out the actual duties.

If you use your common sense and ignore criticism, deposit say 10,000 Rs maturing in 10 years for her in a mutual fund. She will be grateful. Anything else will be wasteful in that we are not living in the 30s to worry about the society or relatives. Love and care for her future is the best way to avoid wastes.
