Subject: Notification & Update - Veda and Sloka Classes

Dear Members and Devotees,
The tradition of Vedic chanting is proclaimed by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of human society.
The Hindu Society of SA is proud to inform the community members that the weekly free Vedas and Slokas chanting classes that started from 20 June 2020 are a great success and the Hindu community members have really embraced the learning from Raghuram Ramachandran (Raghu), representing the Vedic and Cultural Centre of Australia.
During the initial 6 months of classes in 2020, a number of Shanthi Mantras, Upanishads and Sukthams were taught to community members. Members got the opportunity to chant these mantras during the Navarathri celebrations at the Ganesh Temple on 23 October 2020.
Owing to the continuing demand and interest for these classes from the community members, Hindu Society of SA had decided to continue this engagement in 2021 with Raghu, representing the Vedic and Cultural Centre of Australia.
There will be two classes per week as follows:
Saturday morning (Australian Adelaide time) - 9 am to 10 am - Veda classes - commencing 16 January 2021 .Indian time will be (4 am to 5 am )
Thursday evening - 6 pm to 6:45 pm - Sloka classes - commencing 21 January 2021 (Srimad Bhagavad Gita & Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam)
Indian time ( 1 Pm to 1.45 Pm)

Classes will be on Zoom and will continue on Zoom even after the COVID-19 restrictions are eased.
The next sessions starting from 16 January 2021 would cover LaghuNyasam, Sri Rudhram / Chamakam, Taittireeya Upanishad, and other sukthams, based on interest and progress.
Again, based on community members interest and demand we will cover key slokas from Srimad Bhagavatham, Srimad Ramayanam and Narayaneeyam
The classes are open for all age groups. Classes must be attended regularly except for health reasons or other unavoidable circumstances.
After every class, audio files will be provided for chanting practice. Texts in Sanskrit and English will be provided. Regular practice is expected from students.
There is no *fee* for the classes being charged by Shri Raghuram or by the Hindu Society of SA. We encourage one and all to join and make these classes a success.
