Happy Raksha Bandhan. Pray God, please protect brothers and sisters from each other. Here begins the six-month period of celebrations when people attempt to acquire new things for themselves in the name of god. The best blessed are the mega marathon, twist-thon, stretch-thon and permanently-elastic serial makers of all channels on TV. Now they can change the mode from Western ‘sophistication’ to Indian traditions of god in his various avatars and the traditions to ‘appease’ Him. They have been hitherto short of making mother a wife, father a husband and what not to maintain the ‘TRP’. They are sort of both sides gummed adhesive tapes to keep the viewers and ad sponsors glued to them. In the process they have entangled themselves in such mire that they do not know who is doing what character (sic) in which serial. This 6-month gives them respite to disentangle themselves and resume fresh assault on Indian culture and traditions. Of course, the select viewers bereft of all intelligence and sense of cognition, have been crucified to their scalded and less-stuffed couches. Mera Bharat Mahan.
