Uma Maheswara Stotram extols Shiva in the form of Shankara-parvati, Uma-Maheswara, the ardhanareeswara.

Shiva is shankara-Parvati. Shankara is unmanifest observer, a sAkSi, the puruSa. Parvati is manifest, the prakRti that evolves through an evolutionary process, which is the mAyA that masks the underlying realities. This puruSa prakRti, the mom-dad of Universe are not two different entities. They are ardha nareeswara says the sloka. They are ever young, essence of everything, clouds of prosperity smeared on them, from which the pancha bhutAs that weave the Universe arise, medicine for all ills, beautiful, present in all the 'hrdayas' as the consciousness-conscience pair, destroying negative tendencies, know all, understand all, seer & seen, not subjected to ageing or death, three-eyed unequally, protects all matter and beings by being in their hearts (as the consciousness conscience pair), worshipped by devas, asuras and mortal narAs, says this sloka. Hence when we say namah parvati pataye, we are supposed to realize that Universe is all one family and when that thought syncs in all, we realize that ‘mahA devA’, the puruSa behind and shout Hara Hara mahAdevA.
