Donald Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, has added India to the list of countries that he believes is taking away jobs from the US and has pledged to bring those back if elected president.

"What I did on June 16, we came out and we started talking about trade, how we're being ripped off with China, ripped off with Japan, ripped off with Mexico at the border and then trade, ripped off by Vietnam, and by India, and by every country," Trump told his supporters at a massive rally in Las Vegas last night attended by thousands of people.

"Every single country because they're all represented by these people that we think are representing us. That's why when I say I am self-funding, folks, it means much more than you think. It means much more, I'm telling you," he said.

After jumping into the presidential race last June, Trump has been regularly singling out China, Japan and Mexico and occasionally Vietnam for taking away American jobs. But this is for the first time in recent months that Trump has added India to that list.

Globalisation is not meant for dumbing the US made goods at cheaper rate at other countries or making avenues for the financial investments in developing countries!

Cheap labour could also migrate to countries (including US )of their choice, adhering to the framed rules of the country to which they are migrating.

Yes.
Trump is trying to whip up/provoking the sentiments of US unemployed sector; Totally a political speech.... delivered as a election strategy!!

US manufactured goods are pretty costly; it is China, Japan, Taiwan, etc., who dump the world markets with cheap goods.

While the GATT covers goods, it is not clear (at least to me) whether it allows an open world-wide market for (cheap) labour. Probably Trump may start anti-dumping steps towards cheap labour taking away the employment chances of the sons-pf-the-soil!

I think it is possible to make the argument that any country with which the US has a trade or currency imbalance is "ripping off the US". Of course the causes are complicated from cheap labor, to lax environmental rules to low quality standards and currency manipulation.

It is an important global tussle more important than fighting in the mideast. From the point of view of Americans, a lot of the things Trump says makes sense and is divergent from the Republican party line as well.

Trump does a volte face! He now supports the Indian students! Getting mature as the campaign progresses!! Everything is scripted, I guess!!

Surprise! Trump wants Indians in US.

Indians studying in American educational institutions should not be kicked out as the country needs smart people like them, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has said as he sought to set the record straight about his immigration policies.

"Whether we like that or not, they pay, et cetera, et cetera but we educate a lot of people, very smart people. We need those people in the country," Trump, 69, told Fox News in an interview when asked about his views on legal immigration.

"They cannot come into the country. You know, they go to Harvard, they are first in their class and they're from India they go back to India and they setup companies and they make a fortune and they employ lots of people and all of that," he said. "Many people want to stay in this country and then want to do that. I think somebody that goes through years of college in this country we shouldn't kick them out the day they graduate, which we do," Trump said clarifying his position on certain aspect of H-1B visas.

There is no America (the US) without non-Americans. I think Trumps only want Presidentship like our ModiJi wanted prime-ministership. Obama has had his own agenda. But Republicans have been good to India.
