Please find the link that contains elaborate (step-by-step) information on Yajur Veda Avani Avittam/Upakarma ritual. Per scriptures, the actual Upakarma should be performed after Madhiyanikam and Brahma Yagnam which is well after noon. Please do it as you see appropriate.
