This isn’t the Bangalore I know: Man whose CCTV recorded Bengaluru molestation speaks

"I watched the CCTV footage and I was shocked at what I saw. The girl had been sexually assaulted right next to my house.”

Businessman Francis had installed a CCTV camera in his house at 5th Main in Kamanahalli in the heart of Bengaluru for his personal safety. On the evening of January 1, a young girl living in the area paid him a visit, asking him to check the CCTV footage from the wee hours of that morning.

She told him that she had been sexually assaulted and robbed.

“I watched the CCTV footage and I was shocked at what I saw. The girl had been sexually assaulted right next to my house,” Francis recalls.

The three-minute odd footage has caused national outrage. The footage recorded at 2.38 am on New Year’s Day shows two women getting down from an auto rickshaw. The first woman walks steadily and moves out of the camera’s view. The second woman pays the auto driver and walks into the dimly lit lane. Three bikes with two men on each arrive at the end of the street and one bike follows her into the lane.

One of them forcibly hugs her, sexually assaults her and drags her to his friend on the bike. The two men try to pull her clothes off. The girl puts up a brave fight through out and tried to overpower the guy. Finally, they push her on the road and leave.

“The first woman left in a hurry as she wanted to use the bathroom. The other woman had been assaulted and had lost her wallet. She wanted to see if the CCTV had recorded the bike’s registration number. She was in shock and was also worried that she was robbed. She had lost all her money and her debit card. When she saw that the bike’s number was not clear on the CCTV footage as the tail lamp was not on, she left,” Francis told The News Minute.

[h=1]Bengaluru Molestation: Fury Over Karnataka Home Minister's Remarks[/h]

On Bengaluru molestation, Karnataka minister G Parameshwara said "these kind of things do happen"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The minister, who is responsible for policing, said in an interview to Times Now yesterday that "western culture" is to blame and that "these things do happen," further outraging Bengaluru as well as the rest of the country.

Describing the street party where thousands gathered to countdown to 2017, the minister, who is from the ruling Congress, said, "A large number of youngsters gathered -- youngsters who are almost like westerners... they try to copy westerners not only in mindset, but even the dressing, so some disturbance, some girls are harassed, these kind of things do happen."

The Bengaluru Police late on Tuesday, two days after the incident, said they have filed a case after finding credible evidence of molestation.

It is most unfortunate that Bangalore is the victim of affluence. That beautiful and peaceful City in which I came to settle down fifty-five years ago has vanished completely.
This has happened due to sudden influx of people from all over the Country with only aim of making money. City has grown without planning in all sides without infrastructure. Heaps of uncleared garbage at every corner has turned this garden city into garbage city.
Easy money has encouraged unabated Corruption to brake every rule in the civic law. Perhaps this is the only State which has brought law called " akarama Sakrama" to regularise all who have broken building regulations by paying money !
Attracted by high salary offered by IT and it's ancellory industry Bangalore has a huge population of migrants from all other States with different cultural background, whose views on social and personal relationship are different from the prevailing in this part of Nation. The result what we see today is sudden mix of this.
What has happened on New Year Eve is most shameful. The miscreants should be caught and punished.
Pretty crime has become rampant and wide spread. Even in our area like Koramangala, walking on road after sunset has become unsafe for women, due the frequent chain snatching.
How ever the city police has increased their vigilance by frequent rounds and catching the culprits.

Brahmnyan
Bangalore.

hi

every progress has some kind of byproduct.....the brigade road was very good some 40 yrs ago....i heard that now full of PUBS...

EASY MONEY HAS EASY PROBLEMS TOO....western culture mindset corrupted every where...we have to face the consequences

of this corrupt system....

People who celebrate 'Yugadi' withmuch enthusiasm and gaiety, celebrated New Year Eve at night with
revelers
gathered in the heart ofthe city to assault or harass girls….!!

Do we have to protest it…?

Do we have to denounce it….?

Or do we have to simply read such reports and let it goas one more untoward incident….?

And how the State going to treat or react to this.... the politician... the bureaucrts...?

Bangalore police detain six men over New Year’s Eve 'mass molestation'

Indian authorities say suspectsheld after video clips of women being attacked during celebrations went viralon social media

Police in Bangalore say they have detained at least six suspectsover an alleged “mass molestation” in the south Indian city on New Year’s Eve,as the release of CCTV footage from the night fanned outrage.

An estimated 60,000 people gathered on two major roads in thecentre of the city on Saturday to celebrate the new year. Witnesses and localmedia reports said the crowd turned unruly and a number of women were sexuallyassaulted or harassed.

Law enforcement officials in Bangalore initially said nocomplaints were filed on the night and asked possible victims to come forward. But on Wednesday police officer Hemant Nimbalkar said at least six men had beendetained after several video clips of women being attacked by groups of menwent viral on social media.

Earlier in the day, the city police commissioner, Praveen Sood, said officers had seen images from 45 CCTV cameras and had enough evidence tobegin an investigation.

“As promised we have found credible evidence, repeat credibleevidence, in a case of wrongful confinement, molestation and attempt to rob,”Sood tweeted.

He said officers would investigate the case “silently”, afterdays of intense scrutiny of the police’s handling of the crowd, and criticismof the initial reaction by officials in the state.

Indian’s National Commission for Women on Tuesday sought theresignation of GParameshwara, the home minister for Karnataka state, for his claims thatincidents such as the alleged mass sexual assault “do happen” and were thefault of young people acting and dressing “like westerners”.

Most of these sort of imolestation incidents happen in night especially when people are drunk , half drunk and when also when they are in groups and any women travelling alone become a very easy target for these morons . Responsible citizens must join with the police in taking responsibility of patrolling the city streets in the night ( on two wheelers ) to keep a check on these sort of morons . Groups need to be formed in each locality and people must take turns to share this patrolling duty . In the past such groups existed on the outskrits of Chennai to keep a check on burglars but now we need to have such groups to protect not only women from being molested but also to prevent senior citizens and others from being robbed during night .

Bengaluru Molestation

'I respect women, that is my culture': K'taka HM changes tune on Bengaluru molestation cases

I studied abroad, I never said I disrespect Western culture says Parameshwara

Four days after his much-condemned comments on the molestation of multiple women on New Year’s Eve in Bengaluru, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that his comments on the “unfortunate” incident had been misinterpreted.

Parameswara had initially implied that the blame for the molestations lay with the women victims. However, after the furore rose over his comments, Parameswara declared at a press conference on Thursday that his comments had been distorted by the media.

"I am extremely pained by the fact that my statement with respect to the alleged molestation incident has been interpreted out of context and not taken in its entirety," he said. He added that his statements had been in relation to public celebrations and not the incidents of molestation. “I said New Year celebration happens every year. I did not say molestation,” the Minister claimed.

“I have full respect for women. I have sisters, a mother, a wife,” the Minister said. He added that he had himself studied abroad, and insisted that he never said that he disrespected Western culture.

since 2nd half of 20th century Bangalore has been a rapidly westernized city. teenagers and youngsters in their twenties ape the west in almost everything; dress, food habits, lifestyle etc. courtships between boys and girls has seen significant increase with parents oblivious to the fact. The IT companies further fan this westernization with their liberal and relaxed dress codes. people from other parts of the country have adulterated/contaminated the pristine Bangalore culture with their imported culture. unless and until the government brings in stringent and strict rules like banning new year and valentine's day celebrations etc during nights, this deterioration cannot be checked.

While most blame the police for having failed to keep the miscreants under check with elaborate bandobust, here is Maata Ji finding fault with women and their dressing.

Spiritual leader Maate Mahadevi says molestation is women's fault

Mate%20Mahadevi.jpg

"If women cover themselves from head to toe, such instances will not happen," she said.

Bengaluru is still recovering from the shocking incidents of molestation that have been reported from the city in the past week.
A chilling CCTV footage of a woman getting assaulted by two men had generated great outrage, as it came soon after reports of
multiple incidents of molestation fat MG Road and Brigade Road in the city.

Amidst all the outrage the incident has witnessed, here is a woman whose words will leave you speechless.
On Saturday, Maate Mahadevi, the spiritual head of the Basava Dharma Peetha, said that the women were to blame for the incidents of molestation reported on MG Road and Brigade Road.

“Such incidents do not happen in other places. They happen only in cities like Bengaluru. If women cover themselves from head to toe, then they will not attract the attention of men and such incidents will not happen,” Maate Mahadevi said at a programme in Dharwad.
She goes on to say that women should not step out of their houses after 12 am. “Women should abide by our culture and not doing so is also the cause for such incidents,” she adds.

Bengaluru molestation: Bring out a national registry, it's time to name and shame culprits

Short of publicly whipping their sorry little backsides, it is perhaps time to take sexual predators as a group and post warnings of their presence. At least as a first step in the fightback — although there will be some of us who have begun to think that a solid bashing on live TV may well be the answer.

But how long are we going to let "suspects" hide their faces behind odd-looking shawls and scarves with 20 cops clutching their arms in a hope of getting on TV and a rope on the side and then vanish into the ether without the victims or the people really knowing if they were punished or let off through influence or simply given a slap on the wrist?

Due to opening out in 1991,everyone gained access to all things global.

This incude all social platforms, internet, pornography, fashional dresses of the west which reveal more than they hide.

Our women aspiring for liberation from atrocious social set up binding them to a male dominated society deciding all aspects of their life making them bonded labour of

men got the chance they were looking for.Higher education and better employment oppurtunities made them demand equality in all fields of endeavour.Since they started

occupying public spaces sometimes going overboard in living-dress,hard drinks and late nights like men, they have invited unwanted attention from repressed indian

males who are using every oppurtunity to molest them.In most males including some so called responsible males, there is a beast lurking which does not mind

pouncing on female prey. There are so many stories of domestic molestation demonstrating the male insane desire to satisfy their desires.

Rapes in national highways in haryana stopping cars during jat agitation, molesting in all metros in recent days are all manifestation of sickness sweeping society.

It is not fair to blame women, their dress, lifestyle for all this.

This is a phase. It will pass. Men will come to cope ,adjust to and become comfortable with new indian modern women..Until then .......

Celebration of Yugadi festival - Images courtesy: Google images.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very same people of Karnataka celebrate the lovely festival of Yugadi..(New year day) with colourful rangoli, delicious food like Obattu and Bevu bella…

They welcome the new year with more joy

No untoward incidents are reported.

While traditional festival Yugadi is celebrated during ‘day time’,
this welcoming of English new year is celebrated only during midnight by 12.00

Men mostly from various regions, various culture get drunk and in an inneberated mood are prone to indulge in unlawful activities which includes sexual abuse of women.

Now they are few who may ask as to why why do girls venture themselves out into such celebrations at odd hour without a dependable and trust worthy company to provide safety and security?

While partly their safety is their responsibility, it is the society also responsible for this....

What are the bystanders doing....merely watching such acts as a fun...!!

Is it not the responsibility of the Government to foresee trouble and provide elaborate bandobust..?

[h=1]2017 New Year’s Eve: How secure will Namma Bengaluru be then?[/h]
What Namma city needs is for men to show solidarity with women, for women to not remain silent anymore and for the state’s security apparatus to respond to this raging issue
…………………………..
……………………………

How safe will next year’s celebrations be?

What Bengaluru needs is for the leadership to chalk out a way forward to ensure such horrors do not recur. What Bengaluru needs is for the police to step up and find a practical solution to tackle issues related to sexual harassment. Above all, what Bengaluru needs is for citizens to stand by each other and register their concerns with those who are expected to not just make the law, but also protect it.

Bengaluru’s molestation horror on CCTV: We failed as citizens, the shame is mine

....................................
.....................................
Excerpts:

Just as politicians in Bengaluru were trivialising thehorrific molestation of women at MG Road on New Year’s Eve; the Bengalurupolice was busy either denying or addressing the allegations; defensive, myopicmen were getting #NotAllMen to trendon social media, blaming women for going to a crowded spot in the first place;and some journalists were raising doubts overwhether any molestation had really happened, a concerned citizen inKammanahalli in Bengaluru copied CCTV footage fromhis street and sent it to the Times of India.

The horrific video captures the ruthlessness with which two menon a two-wheeler assault and molest a woman on an empty road. One of them getsoff the bike, runs to the girl who is walking alone, molests her, assaults her, drags her to the bike, after which both of them try to molest her again, andwhen she continues fighting them, they just throw her off and speed away on thebike.

At a distance, perhaps 100 metres away on the main road, are menwho just stare at the assault and do nothing. They are probably men who werewith the two molesters, but don’t take a step ahead to intervene. Who cares, right? Let’s have fun looking at this.
