Today ( Karthikai- Kruthika) marks Thirunakshtram of Thirumangai mannan( later Azhwar) and Nambpillai, a versatile scholar- Acharyan in Sree Vaishnavism.
1) Thirumangai Azhwar, a Kallar-later turned into a deep devotee immersed in an ocean of Bhakti, made an attempt to rob Perumal( Utsavamurthi), failed in a game-played by Perumal with him, realized it was Sreeman Naraynan and began instantly worldwide known Pasuram “ Vadinen vaadi….Nan KANDU KONDEN Narayana enum namam’’( Peria Thirumozi 1:1).
This Pasuram in a nut shell tells us as to what is that we need to know in this earth: There exists a Veda Purusha who takes care of us in toto!
Thirumangai azhwar is known as Kaliyan!
2) Nambpillai , a devoted sishya of Nanjeeyer ( Sri Ramanujar, Embar , Bhattar, Nanjeeyer , is the line starting from Sri Ramanuja), wanted to make a good copy of the written down the commentary rendered by Nanjeeyer on Thiruvaimozhi.
Unfortunately while carrying the ORIGINAL olai chavudi, across a river lost it in the floods.
On reaching his village, he meditated on his Acharyan and recalled back the entire writing with an added flavor of additional nice meanings. That new compilation of Nambpillai,won the accolade of Nanjeeyer, when presented to him!
( Nambpillai’s vyakhyanam "eedu 36000ppadi", popularly known as just "eedu" is ... saw that it was neither short nor long and was written beautifully in 36000 padi's.)
Just look at the adorable qualities of Nampillai’s! He is said to be Kaliyan reborm! ( Thirumangai azhwar reborn!)
