257b. Offer to carry the calf and you will find the cow and the calf on your shoulders.

The world loves fools and willing slaves.
And there is no shortage of such persons.

Offer to do a small help and you will be squeezed out of
your time/ talent/ money/ energy/ resources.

Have you ever thought about this?

Is we decide to stop complaining about the people/ the places/ the events
we become very silent - since there is nothing else to talk about!

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

259b. A fox may become grey, but never become good.

A scorpion fell int a stream and a man tried to take it out of the stream.
The scorpion bit the hand of the man who saved it and fell in the water again.

This went on several times and a passerby asked,
"Why do you try to save it when all it does is to sting you in return?"

The man replied "It is my nature to save anything which is drowning. It is the nature of the scorpion to sting anyone who comes too close"

Footnotes:-

How many of know about this wonderful Anuloma- Viloma Kavya?

Raghava Yadaviyam with English Translation

Posted on September 19, 2009 by bharateeya
Raghava-yadaviyam by Venkatadhvari (17th cent.) is an “anuloma-viloma kavya” that narrates the story of Rama. But the Shlokas read in the reverse relate an adventure of Shri Krishna.

Here is a random sloka from the text.

“I pay my obeisance to Lord Shri Rama, who with his heart pining for Sita, travelled across the Sahyadri Hills and returned to Ayodhya after killing Ravana and sported with his consort, Sita, in Ayodhya for a long time.”

In reverse

“I bow to Lord Shri Krishna, whose chest is the sporting resort of Shri Lakshmi;who is fit to be contemplated through penance and sacrifice, who fondles Rukmani and his other consorts and who is worshipped by the gopis, and who is decked with jewels radiating splendour.”

A proverb a day to brighten the day.

260b. No man loves fetters - even if they are made of gold.

Fetters are fetters whether made of iron or silver or gold or studded with diamonds.
Bondage is bondage- however sweet it may look / feel / excite a person.

But bondage is inevitable in human life - since no man is (or can be) an island.
So man must catch hold of the world that binds him but he should not forget God - realizing whom is the real aim of human life.

Maybe we are given two hands to hold on to the world and God at the same time!

footnote:-
Kein = No
Mann = man
liebt = loves
Fesseln = fetters
auch wenn = even when
sie = they
bestehen = consist
aus Gold = of gold

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 5,600 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 9 years to get that many views.

The Haves and The Have-nots!

No one can make everyone else happy!
Whatever pleases some, will upset some others.

The best way to live is to use one's discretion
and do what one believes to be the right thing.

Surely some people will be pleased.
Some others will be terribly upset.

But you can be at peace with yourself since
you have done what you believe to be right.

266b. Gluttony kills more people than the wars.

Wars were few and far between.
War is not a normal condition but an abnormal one.

Gluttony on the other hand has been normalized by many people....
just because they can afford the food or have the time and peace to enjoy it.

Such people are literally digging their own graves with their spoons and forks.
Such people invite all the killer diseases to invade their body through the stomach.

tötet = kills
mehr = more
Menschen = people
