Toys are a multimillion dollar business in USA. Parents never say NO to the demands of their kids!
Keeping up with Joneses? Maybe! May be not!!

Easy come ... easy go! The children never realize how much money/ effort/ personal sacrifice goes into each of these fancy toys they demand!

I can't help thinking of these two sterling statements!

You can't make your child GOOD by making him HAPPY.
You can make your child HAPPY by making him GOOD.

The first type of happiness is transient and the new demands
will keep growing like the heads of the mythical creatures.

The second type of happiness is permanent and lasts lifelong.
Goodness leads to real Happiness, Peace of mind and contentment!

There have always been two classes everywhere and in everything.
Air Travel has its own two classes for the 'haves and the have nots'
or those who are willing to throw money around and
those who spend for the need and not for any greed.

They are called as Business Class and Torture Class.

Being short and petite has its own advantages - during air travel.
They can at least keep the circulation in the lower limbs on at best.
The knees need get tired due the long hours of flying.

But it is the tall people who are truly blessed to bear the brunt.
They can't stretch their legs or prevent their knees from getting distorted.
Their knees become unserviceable by the time they have to get off the plane.

Older we get the more we have to travel-to attend celebrations and ceremonies.
Farther the children settle down from hometown...longer we have to travel.
Older we get the more tiring the travel becomes. So what is the solution???

Like any evolution ( of course here in the negative direction) all these changes
have happened over a long period, one inch at a time - unnoticed and unquestioned!

Be pleasant till 10 A.M. in the morning.
The rest of the day will take care of itself.

I have heard of people who come out the pooja room after their dhyAna and samadhi roaring like lions coming out of their den. If this is the state AFTER the practising the pacifying samadhi - what would be their natural state???

"Which way to heaven?"
"Turn to Right and keep straight."

The 'Index finger', 'aaL kaatti viral', 'tharjanee' are all the names of the same finger!

It points out a person. It separates him from the rest of the crowd.
It threatens. It gives ultimatums. The net result...?

It is branded as unfit to take part in Japa Yagnam.

Yes! There is a small hole through which this famous finger protrudes out of the bag used for doing Japam, while the other 'saadhu' fingers roll the beads of the japa maalai inside the bag.

Nobody likes to be threatened by a friend or a foe!

The thumb may not register its opinions but the other three fingers invariably point to the person -who threatens with his index finger - and register their silent and yet unmistakable protest!

It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.

Deeds show what we are! Words only what we should.

Ability that is not demonstrated, remains unrecognized.

Do not throw away your unclean water, until you get clean water.

A well balanced sentence is the result of words carefully weighed.

Most people like to avoid taking the trouble to think for themselves.

Scaring Sources of Sound

We do not fear what we can recognize. We fear the unknown sounds, sights, smells and tastes.

Here everything makes a sound or sings a song - when they are switched ON & OFF.

The garage doors make scary rumbling sound deep from the womb of the earth at midnight -
because they are built underground and you do not know about it, since you are just visiting.

The washing machine sings a short song when the cycle is over. I can lip sync the song with
"Come and get it!" OR "eduththukkO!" OR "mudinchudhu!" OR "katham huvA" or "aai pOyindhi!"

The rice cooker has its own song and so also every other gadget including Roomba. The cat may set it on and you would be blissfully unaware of it but for its song and sound!

In addition to these sweet songs we also have the scary ones. The Fire alarm goes ON at midnight with a false alarm - since the battery had become weak (?)

The security system has the contacts broken duto extreme heat and set false alarm which an be heard over the whole neighbourhood. If I were India the whole colony would have been at my door to investigate the sound! Here we hardly see or know the next door neighbours! :(

Yesternight the watch alarm set for 10-30 P.M(?) went on giving me a new scare. I thought it was coming from the newly installed Split A.C which had been running continuously in an effort to bring down the inside temp by 25F or more with regard to the exterior temp!

Modern living is as comfortable as it is scary. It can't but remind me of the story of the Country Mouse visiting a City Mouse!

The significance of a pain varies inversely
as the richness of its description. :)

That is why I never describe my knee pain!
It is beyond description! :(

The trouble with opportunity is that it always looks bigger while going than coming!

Some people cause happiness wherever they go. Some others only whenever they go.

Folly has an ally in Pride.

What must be ...shall be!

There is no darkness but ignorance.

Have you noticed that the offender never pardons.

A clever conscience fears no accusations.

Conquest pursues when Courage leads the way.

Guilty conscience makes men cowards.

Plain dealing is a priceless jewel.

To the pure...all things are pure.

Necessity does the work of courage.

He does well...who does good!

Read not books alone, but men too;
And above all read yourself without fail.

Ignorance makes one very proud....because
He / she does not know what he/she does not know!

Ignorance and arrogance go hand in hand!

Nothing is really done unless it is done in the most efficient and proficient manner.
Until then one would never be really pleased or happy with the existing arrangements.
Constant efforts will be made to modify and improve the current arrangements.
Whenver anything or anyone is in equilibrium, then it /he/she is in the best arrangements!

( = A contented mind is the philosopher's stone)

The philosopher's stone, more properly philosophers' stone or stone of the philosophers (Latin: lapis philosophorum) is a legendary alchemical substance capable of turning base metals such as mercury into gold (chrysopoeia, from the Greek χρυσός khrusos, "gold", and ποιεῖν poiēin, "to make") or silver.
