When you say that a group of devices run Android, it does not mean that they look and function alike. They merely share the Android name, but in terms of looks, most manufacturers overdo it in a bid to differentiate in the increasingly competitive market of Smartphones.

It is in this cesspool of carrier and OEM customizations that we find solace in stock or near Stock-interfaces of Nexus and Pure Edition devices. Pure Editions, if you didn’t know, are variations of popular phones running stock Android.

Motorola has posted (then deleted) a tweet tentatively indicating September 3 as the launch date for the Pure Edition of the Moto X, which has a 5.7 inch QHD Display, a hexacore Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 21MP back camera. Everything is powered by a 3000mAh battery.

It would be running stock Android with guaranteed support for timely updates.

Of course, it won’t be sold through carriers and would sell unlocked to consumers.

All we need to do now is to wit till September 3 for the launch of the Pure Edition.

What do you think? Does the near-stock OS of the Moto X really need a stock edition?
