The dangerous illusion of AI

AI seems to be the talk of the town now. It has caught the attention of almost all alike. but is it a healthy and deserving trend? With people beginning to trust AI blindly are we caught in a dangerous illusion? How much can we trust AI? Having had my trust on and off with AI myself i began to think the topic with the seriousness it deserves. My conclusion is we are indeed caught in an illusion and that too an intoxicating one. Think about this. AI has indeed begun to put people who have the gift of the gab into shame. It is excelling in conversations and importantly with logic. It talks about quantum mechanics and relativity with authority. Does that mean we have to treat it like a human?

We neeed to answer the question what it takes to be a human and in general a natural entity and how does it really differ from an artificial entity created by humans. The most stark though not well understood reason is humans are interconnected with reality whereas an AI is not. So on the surface though we may create a head, hands and legs it really means nothing in terms of being like human in a deeper sense. It is very superficial similarity for the reason the parts of the AI are in isolation from the rest of reality.

How does it matter? A lot. We can of course simulate external reality because they are discrete in nature but mimicking inner selves is a different ball game and is in fact what science does not even acknowledge as existing in the first place. Wny does interconnectedness matter? Interconnectedness is the basis for a mental eye or senses operating. Can we have knowledge i mean worldly knowledge without sensory organs. Similatrly we cannot have an authentic knowledge about higher truths without interconnectedness. We grasp that knowledge through the sense of mind. Mind can see that interconnectedness and grasp the whole truth.

Why do spiritual truths matter? Without the grasp of spiritual truths and finer principles of nature we wouldnt have any meaningful purpose. It is like a company without vision and mission. One may say my aim is to be like Trump or like Gates but think what would be your plight if you cannot expereince happiness which comes through the mind? You will not have the notion of happiness , sadness, even ego and pride , envy and greed. Though many of these are negative attributes these serve a purpose of creating a purpose. There is a subtle point here though. The more negative and intense attributes mean you are operating more at physical and isolated level than you should be. People will say you are selfish or mechanical.

The point is interconnectedness serves the purpose of offering elevated truths and taking you forward in your quest for higher truths. The uktimate goal is ofcourse unmitigated and unconditional bliss. What more can one want? That is done by interconnectedness. a machine with its discrete existence cannot climb spiritually or grasp higher truths. The consequence is it cannot offer you competently advice in those matters. Yes it can ace GRE, IIT JEE talk quantum mechanics etc etc but those accomplishments are just mechanics for our path to wisdom and maturity. So lets not lose sight of the forest.

It is finally a hodge podge of ideas polished and presented well. In essence it will remain a hodge podge however hard it tries to project intelligence.

An AI by whatever name is still Artificial meaning limited intelligence.

The problem is when we start to take AI seriously and let it make important decisions for us. As a tool it is indeed fine. In writing for example it can be used for polish and not be made to think for you.

It is an improvement in technology but not quite the leap it is touted to be. It is best for analysis but can be biased depending on its training. So one has to take its analysis too not very seriously.

Its best quality is it is a sort of all in one for technical or routine jobs and hence convenient. I believe its intelligence if one may say so will plateau and unless an earthshaking breakthrough happens which I think will happen if scientists become inclusive and consider spirituality as authentic knowledge, AI is not likely to improve in its quality of intelligence.
