[h=1]Thanks to Sairat, youths take up fight for inter-caste marriages[/h]

Inspired by recently-released Marathi movie Sairat, a group of youngsters has joined hands to create a network to support inter-caste and inter-religious marriages. The group, apart from counselling, will find jobs for the couples and offer them protection in extreme situations.
Sairat Marriage Group was formed following heated discussions on social media over the movie. “When we posted in support of the film, critics taunted us to do something in real. We said yes,” said Harshal Lohkare, a volunteer, who is studying journalism.
The word spread like wildfire and within one-and-a-half weeks, they started getting calls expressing willingness to volunteer for the cause. Activists in support of such marriages came forward with suggestions.
Counselling
“Six couples have already approached us and we are counselling them. We first understand their problems, which range from unemployment to caste and religion boundaries. Our job is to initiate dialogue and provide all possible help the couples need,” he said.
The group is likely to contact recruitment agencies and HR departments of companies to find jobs for the couples. Besides, around 20 flats in Pune have been identified where the couples can stay free of cost for at least two-three months after their marriage, if families refuse to budge.
“This initiative is not to promote runaway marriages. We have to accept that the problem exists in our society and people suffer because of caste and religious conflicts,” said Ravikant Varpe, another volunteer. The group can be reached on 9960938917, 9545451212, 8149200910 and 8452983498.

Remind me of the old story of a Fox with cut / torn tail .........asking other foxes to get their tails cut saying that it would be convenient to be without tails.

May be this post is not appropriate here! We are all suffering because of this and now this post!!

There is always two sides for a coin. On the contrary, I think this post has cautioned us and made us aware about existence of such an arrangement, so that we could be more careful with our children. Make them aware about the consequences and should guide them to remain within our community so that our values are kept high. If we find this post encourage our children to go the inter cast way, we should find out ways to create awareness among them about the dangers and difficulties on such arrangements.

Dont worry guys!

Learn from this...if a supportive network for IC and IR marriages was created with good feedback and response..learn and find out how and why their system works and a similar platform for promoting only TB marriages can be fashioned successfully.

Instead of wailing "Aiyoo..what to do now? Bhagavane! Narayana! Shiva Shiva..what type of thread is this?....its going to encourage IC/IR marriage'

You guys should learn to even identify positive points from a so called negative situation.

Try to understand why all the hype and talk a few threads ago about saving the community didnt take off..no one belled the cat and to be frank the cat was not even present...the cat knew its all talk and no action..so the Billi ate 900 mice and went for a Haj!"nau sau chuhe khake billi haj ko chali!

The very news that IC / IR couples form a forum for their coordination goes without saying that life is not that much simple without anybody's help.

Hi!

I am really surprised to see the responses to the innocuous post. I thank all the esteemed members for taking the time and interest to share their opinions and concerns.

What do you see in the following image?

If you see an embraced couple, you should give it a closer look until you see the (8-10) dolphins. :)

Apparently children see the dolphins first, while "sexual" grown-ups focus on the nude bodies first.

I appreciate and thank the Members who were able to have a positive approach to the OP with great insight and perception to the changes occurring in the Indian society and iterate to others that we cannot be like the cat that closes its eyes or the legendary ostrich that buries its head in the sand to avoid taking cognizance of the rapid changes that are taking place around us in all spheres. I "copied and pasted" the OP to create an awareness about the current trend prevailing in certain sections of the Indian society and also because the target population which may be impacted by such a post - viz., impressionable youngsters of marriageable age with interest in IC / IR marriages are purportedly NOT Members of this forum. Let us not hit the panic button every time we see news contrary to our expectations and preferences.

Thank you once again for your views and opinions.
