Vaishnavaites talk of शरणागति; Śaraṇāgati (= surrender, approach to protection) Prapatti प्रपत्ति. (pious / devotion filled resignation). Can any one elaborate on this? My own understanding: Surrender is NOT blindly making GOD as our our servant who fulfils all our desires or we completely keep quiet and impose the responsibility of protecting us with essentials such as food, shelter clothing on God etc. IT IS ACTUALLY shedding the भोक्तृत्वं - enjoyership of duties (the karma we do to fulfil our dutoes give raise to some consequences/ reqwards) but keep doing all acts karmaa as prescribed by our DHARMA धर्म as a matter of कर्तृत्वं . Approach to protection: A fish under the feet of a fisherman who spreads the net can't get caught. One who surrenders at the feet of lord will never get caught in the net called samsaara maaya / chakra . Devotion filled resignation: Accepting that whatever happens is GODS WILL and we are all nimiththa kaaranam. i.e instruments. As long as live by dharma, accept all happenings as HIS divine will and keep minimising association with consequences and at the end completely eliminate that association.
