Sri Ambabai Temple, Kolhapur

Sri Ambabai temple, Kolhapur

Probably the only idol in the world that was made using three metals: silver, copper and brass. Here the face of the Goddess is made of silver, the rest of the body is made of copper and the cloth is made of brass. The melting points of these three metals are different. There is no welding anywhere on this idol, it is an unbroken idol. The same feature is of the lion below the goddess, the whole body is of copper and the ayal is of brass. Even today, attempts to make such idols have failed.
