Ah, Audiophiles. If you want to make a quick buck, they are the easiest ones to fool. Just say your cable is made out of diamond metallic wizardry, and they will spend thousands of dollars buying your cable and then praising it and claiming that it makes a different.

It has grown so ridiculous that there is actually an Ethernet Cable for Audiophiles, costing thousands of dollars. What Audiophiles don’t realize, is that standards such as Ethernet are digital and even a $5 Cable will perform as good as a $5000 one. With analog, it is another story, but not enough to warrant the expenses.

Now Sony announced the $1200 Walkman recently, claiming it offered the highest quality Sound. We don’t argue with that, it probably does offer high-res sound, but the fact is, you, being a human, cannot notice the difference.

Now to further rip Audiophiles off, Sony has announced through the WSJ a premium 64GB MicroSD Card. Sony throws out terms like packeted digital signaling to attract Audiophiles and make them buy and praise this card, even if it makes no difference whatsoever.

Even Sony says it doesn’t know whether it is actually effective or not.
“We aren’t that sure about the product’s potential demand, but we thought some among people who are committed to great sound quality would want it.” told a Sony spokesperson to the WSJ.

It would cost $160 when it launches in Japan, which is six times more than 64GB Cards you would normally buy. Audiophiles, now there is a card to rip you off along with a $1200 Walkman.

What do you think? How ridiculous is this?
