Food products that are very delicious and poisonous
Do you know that potatoes, tomatoes and even almonds contain a very poisonous substance that can gravely harm a human body? Every day we chow down so many food products without giving a thought to what all they contain. Fruits and Vegetables are good for health, we know that and that's what we preach the young kids but they can also be equally poisonous.

Here is a list of some of the food products that are very poisonous:


Potatoes

Glycoalkaloids is a potentially toxic chemical compound which can be found in the leaves, stems, and sprouts of potatoes. It can also build up in the potato if it's left in light for too long. Eating glycoalkaloids can lead to cramping, diarrhoea, headaches, coma and death. It is better to avoid potatoes with greenish touch.


Tomatoes
Do you know that technically, a tomato is an ovary? It is one fruit or rather berry which Indians just cannot avoid. However, you must know that the leaves and stems of the tomato plant too contain Glycoalkaloid which can cause extreme nervousness and stomach upsets.


Cashews
The cashews in supermarkets are actually steamed to remove the poisonous substance called Urushiol. This chemical can cause the same effect as poison ivy which can cause irritation and rashes on your skin. High levels of Urushiol can allegedly prove fatal.


Elderberries
Elderberry is often used in medicinal syrups, sodas and liquors. The roots and some other parts of the elderberry tree are highly poisonous and can cause severe stomach problems. They contain a chemical substance called Glycosides that, when processed, get converted into cyanide.


Bitter Almonds
First of all, Almond is not a nut but a seed. Second, the bitter ones are extremely poisonous because they are full of cyanide. It is better to have them processed to remove the poison. The sale of bitter almonds is illegal in New Zealand because of its poisonous quality.


Apples
Apple seeds contain a substance called Amygdalin that can release cyanide when they come in contact of digestive enzymes. Apple seeds contain about 700 milligrams of cyanide per kilo and it can be too dangerous for a human body.


Raw Honey
Eating honey straight out of a beehive can get real dangerous for a human body. The raw honey has to go through the pasteurisation process in which harmful toxins are killed. Unpasteurised honey contains Grayanotoxin which can lead to dizziness, weakness, excessive sweating, nausea, and vomiting.
