please inform me whether I can perform my sastiaptapoorthi function without doing rudraekadasi

you may do without rudhra ekadasini. instead of rudhra ekadasi you may do kooshmaanda homam. only one saSTRIGAL Is enough .

My sashtiabhdapoorthi was due this April but couldn't perform due to my mother's passing away in January. I was planning to do it in 2013 April (even though a year later); however my son will be on a training course (no leave during the trg.,) and won't be in Chennai and as he is our only child, we don't want to perform the function in his absence. Can I do it in 2014 (if everything goes alright)? Is there any time limit for conducting the function? Can someone advise me on this?
