Achha, we only are the true nationalists, we only are supporting our brave sainiks. No, no, we don’t mean the proud cadres who have signed up at our shakhas across our maha Maharashtra, the ones who fill Marathi manoos with pride, and Shivaji Park with crowds at Shiv Sena rallies. No, here we are not thinking of our usual sons of the soil agenda. Our fight is against Pakistan for killing our brave jawans on the border.
You are asking, ‘What about the kisans within your own borders killing themselves because of drought and debt?’ We don’t need your bhaashan. This time we are rising above such narrow concerns to support the bigger national cause. If our soldiers are falling to Pakistani bullets, how we can even think about letting wickets fall to Pakistani bowlers?
What? You are trying to tell us that if we don’t want our soldiers to die, we should be defusing tension between our two countries by allowing friendly exchanges of sport and culture, not worsening relations by violently disrupting talks between BCCI president Shashank Manohar and his PCB counterpart, Shahryar Khan? Madam, what kind of bakwas argument is that? Look, we don’t want our soldiers to die in wars, but we don’t want any moves which will bring peace. You can’t understand such simple logic? And you pretend to be intellectuals.
We have put forth our stand in black and white. More black, actually. The whole world gaped at our patriotic act against that desh-drohi Sudheendra Kulkarni who wanted to promote the book written by Khurshid ‘Kargil’ Kasuri. Shove the dove, we say. We want to be hawks. That only will teach Pakistan a lesson. So what if this will increase the attacks which are killing the brave soldiers we want to save?
How proud we have made our glorious state of Maharashtra. On Monday, Delhi’s little-known Hindu Sena took a brush out of our can and blackened the face of that beef-party MLA from J&K; tomorrow every group will take a similar paintpot-shot at anyone who doesn’t toe its line. Thanks to us, Mumbai again shows the way. Because we continue to say, ‘Forget peace-veace. Protect the jawan by provoking the enemy.’
