From Demonetisation to natural disasters, there had been a number of events that shook the nation this year. Here's a quick look at the major events that got India talking.
January 2: Heavily armed gunmen stormed into the Air Force base in Pathankot, Punjab. Two security forces personnel were killed in the initial battle, with an additional security force member dying from injuries hours later.
Security personnel secured Pathankot base after a battle lasting more than 14 hours. The guerrillas were reportedly members of terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed. The attack came days after the Indian and Pakistani Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif met in Lahore to launch a surprise peace initiative.
