Rahul's Nyay scheme is brilliantly timed, and a substantial money transfer to poor !!

Nyay scheme has been announced with just 15 days before the phase 1 elections and also it is a substantial money transfer that will sway people in large numbers. Just when people have to make the final decision to vote, this can make a major impact .

The amount of 72,000 per year, 6000 per month, is substantial really good money for a family in villages and small towns. Combined with the fact that the ruling govt's Kisan scheme 6000 per yr for farmers is too little to make any meaningful difference.

Given the economic mess caused by demo and GST, the 45 yr joblessness, the lack of private investment and jobs, is a perfect storm for Nyay scheme to swing voters.

People at large have invested a lot of emotions in the current govt based on their earlier promises. And despite huge disappointment and no hope of better policies in the future, many are willing to stick with this govt and give them another chance. This shows the unparalleled propaganda machine of this govt which has built a cult around their ideology and leadership.

In this context, only way to sway people is to announce scheme that will make a substantial difference to the people.

And given the MNREGA success, the criticism that this scheme is a just a election gimmick and is unimplementable will not work. And that congress and coalition in Karnataka have implemented the loan waiver scheme to a large num of farmers will also add credibility to this.
