Of late I am buying snacks labelled ¨Iyengar Snacks" and they are good . I do not know whether it is a marketing gimmick or really prepared by Iyengars or does Iyengar represents some famous brand like Udipi . A decade back there were lot of bakery's called ¨Ïyengar Bakerys" in Chennai and they mostly belonged to Kannadigas and they were often targeted during the Cauvery dispute between TN and Karnataka .
brahmin is a term used to convey a sense of hygiene or cleanliness in preparation and permissible ingredients in the item
also it attracts the brahmin clientele who are particular who prepares the food items.
even in this forum people advertise for brahmin cooks and caretakers.
some are prepared to pay them big money to take them abroad for their services

Similarly "Iyengar food" is a brand name, again there is no guarantee that it is made by Hindu Iyengars.
Iyangar Yoga is a type of yoga patented by an individual, but he was a Hindu Iyengar, but his followers are mostly in USA.

It is a vain hope that educated cultured members of this forum are prejudice free and they do not bring caste into issue of jobs as cooks and caretakersEven!!

Dear Krish ji,
Its just marketing skills..I am sure people would feel that Papad made by Brahmins would taste better than regular Papad.
For me I love to eat Punjabi Papad..it taste the best.
Even Ladoos and Jelebis taste the best if they are made by Punjabis.
So if one markets any products using the name of a community it increases sales.
For example Biryani made by Muslims sells like hot cakes.
Out here Bhukara Biryani is famous.
So I feel its no big deal if a Papad is marketed as made by Brahmins..in fact they should be more specific and mention "made by Tamil Brahmins"
I have eaten home made Papad made by an Iyengar Vadakalai lady a mother of a priest and it was really fantastic.

I think some people view caste as a brand name (similar to Brahmin handbags) and do not want it diluted.

a practical and reachable goal will be a society with castes without the obnoxious superior/inferior totem pole positions and the accompanying untouchability, two tumbler system etc., etc.,
Please get down from your utopian revolutionary heights and come down to flat land so that you can make progress.

IT is only wishful thinking of a brahmin that caste will continue to exist with some compromises regarding some
discriminatory features of the caste system.This is how diehard adherants to caste system try to preserve the
existing privileges.
these will get over thrown . already a class system where caste is getting replaced with class is sweeping the metros.
educated and professional classes are choosing partners based on matching their education and profession.caste has
become a minor issue one could compromise on.upwardly mobile castes are rubbing shoulders with the brahmin
caste demanding equality of oppurtunities.
there is nothing revolutionary about it. It is happening all around us.we can close our eyes to it and live in a world of
our own . we can try to ensure our children do not fall a prey to the change and foist our choices to preserve the
caste purity[?]. but whether our children will be happier with our choices based on caste is open to debate.
leave the issue of marriage. even regarding choice of a cook for our homes or domestic help for our homes is there a
rational to make caste the criterion.
all this definitely require to be changed. this will definitely happen in our lifetime. we cannot hardly ignore the
changes happening around us. there is nothing revolutionary in these thoughts
