In another major crackdown to curb the flow of black money across the country, the police have today arrested three students from Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district. The students were arrested for allegedly printing fake new notes of the denomination Rs 500 and Rs 2000. The police have also seized fake notes amounting to Rs 1,90,000.
Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the implementation of the demonetisation policy, had cited the need to strike the flow of fake currency notes and black money in the country, there had been several instances of the circulation of fake currency notes with in the country. Even more alarming for the country, intelligence inputs had earlier confirmed that Pakistan’s spy agency ISI has activated its networks in Bangladesh and Nepal, to once again circulate fake currency notes across the country. According to a report by the India Today, there were intelligence inputs stating that the Pakistan spy agency has roped in absconding don Dawood Ibrahim’s men who function from Mumbai. While fake currency notes of the denomination Rs 100 is also in circulation, ISI will start printing high-quality Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes.

In another recent instance, a State Bank of India ATM in Sangam Vihar dispensed fake Rs 2,000 notes which mentioned ‘Children Bank of India’ in place of Reserve Bank of India and ‘Guaranteed by the Children’s Government’ in place of Guaranteed by the Central Government. The fake notes further had ‘churan label’ in place of the latent image and a ‘PK’ logo at the lower half where bank’s seal is seen in the original currency note.
Following its investigation into the matter, the police has arrested one person suspecting his involvement. The suspect has been arrested from Pratapgarh (UP) and is an employee of the company which is responsible for the task of placing cash in the ATM. The suspect has been identified as Mohammed Isha working for Brinks India Pvt Ltd. The bank has said he was the custodian when the incident took place. Isha has denied allegations made against him but he is being questioned by authorities in the matter.
