[h=1]Paying a high price for justice[/h]Legal fees and the loss of wages/business due to attending court hearings amounts to a staggering Rs 80,000 crore a year - that is 0.44% of the Indian GDP as per a study conducted by Daksh and the National Law University in Delhi.

This must be including cases goes on appeal in a higher court as well. Almost every case which is decided by any lower court is challenged at a higher court by the losing party. There must be some logic to allow such challenge. It is also very strange to note that the decision of lower court is reversed or set aside in many cases. If the same set of rules are applied how come this is possible that means some thing influenced the lower court or may be the higher court decision. In case we bring a legislation for accountability on part of courts for the decisions it gives (in case it is changed or set aside by a higher court), such things can be controlled and number of court cases (at least the ones that are gets challenged) can be reduced.
