Parliament Elections 2019 Results

People of Karnataka used their voting power judiciously this time in electing good candidates, and rejecting some of the high and mighty who were holding the Constituencies as their birth right. Former PM Sri H D Deve Gowda, Sri Mallikarjuna Kharge, Sri Veerappa Moily were defeated, in spite of their Political stature.
Similarly the meritorious win of Smt. Sumalata Ambareesh in Mandya over Sri Nikhil Gowda son of Chief Minister Kumara Swamy should be an eye opener for all the nethas who think of Power, Wealth and Caste will win their candidates.
Smt Sumalata had to face many obstacles. Even three other women named Sumalata were sponsored contest to confuse the voters. Even Caste politics was introduced, accusing that she doesn't belong to the majority caste in that region. But the common voter rejected all these ploy and voted this lady who stood as an independent candidate. Her request for support was accepted by BJP , and they did not sponsor their candidate.

Smt. Sumalata, who stood in the name of her late husband (rebel star) Ambareesh, deserves our congratulations for her meritorious win.
She won by a margin of 125876 votes in Mandya.

Battle of entitlement ! That is no meritorious victory in democracy - Smiriti Irani is real Giant Killer in a vibrant Democracy!

The icing on the cake is the defeat of Kavitha in Nizamabad !

I agree. Smruti Irani was the giant killer. I like RG as a person (I can't forget how he publicly tore up the UPA2 ordinance for protecting the Lalu-like corrupt politicians) but he is no more a greenhorn in politics. He could have learnt from other leaders on how to prioritize the development as an MP of his constituency. Instead he continued to see it as a dynastic entitlement, while Smruti did all the hard work for the constituency, for which she deserved all credits.

Sumalatha deserves congratulations for standing up to a CM desperate for his son's victory. Given that it is a CM notorious for making instructions like "finish them off" to his goons over phone, in the hearing of the public..

Shivbakth is now Shiva! Had to gulp the poison of defeat - shaken or stirred - neither can swallow nor spit it out! Should he step down - for some one to recreate the Congress destroyed by him?

What Sashi Tharoor said about Modi now looks true about Gandhi as well
He is like a scorpion sitting on Shivling - cannot remove him with hand and not hit with a cheppal as well!

RG needs to be pitied, not censured. Not everyone is meant for a political career, RG's skills are obviously elsewhere. Someone (I think, Natwar Singh) has written in his autobiography that it was only due to the pressure from RG his mother didn't become PM in UPA1 - the assassination of his father had created deep scars in his heart so he feared the same fate for his mother if she dared to take up the PM post. With such inner pain / dread for the PM post, to be forced into a political career is always going to be a difficult choice.

Read the below in a news item
Meanwhile, presidents of the Congress party units in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha have offered to resign from their post accepting responsibility for the poor showing of the party in the just-concluded elections.
Everyone " keen on "accepting moral responsibility for the defeat" and "offering to resign". It all seems so simple. If, instead of taking "moral responsibility" they were asked to take a hundred lashes on the bum, would they be keen?

One of the casualty of Elections 2019 is the Left Parties, mainly Leftists in Kerala. It is nothing to do with ideology, but meddling with the faith of people of the major religious community. Leftist Government in Kerala under the CPM Chief Minister stuck to take action against the wishes of devotees of Sabarimala and commited "harakiri". People took a decision to support the other alternative by supporting Congress instead of BJP to defeat Leftists. I doubt leftists could resurrect their presence in Kerala at all.

Brahmanyan Ji,

Here is another...

In Karnataka, where there is coalition government viz Congress and JD(S) seems to have had a humiliation defeat. JD(S) Supremo Deva Gowda got defeated by a BJP Candidate.

Hope general Election results expected to have impact on Karnataka Politics.

There appears to be lot of differences of opinion between the cadres of both Congress and JD(S) as well as among the Leaders of both the Parties.

Hope Post-poll, congress and JD(S) Government could face numbers test….

Dear Sri "Srini",
What we see in Karnataka is expected. One year has passed after the formation of illogical "cat and mouse" Gadhbandan, but there is no Government formed yet. Only aim of stitching two minority Political outfits was to prevent BJP which got more number of seats, (but short of 8 members to form a Government,) coming to power.

The old man's love for his family overwhelmed to vacate his own safe seat for his grandson, and migrate to a Constituency which he expected to vote him to Parliament, on the strength of his Caste. Which failed miserably.

This time BJP is not interested in dragging members from other Parties to form the Government. They expect natural collapse of Government.

Col. R .Hariharan has analysed the Magic of Modi in an article in Rediff.com.

What makes Modi tick?

The answer has two components: As a leader with a vision who can carry the masses and his ability to realise his vision through his decision-making and executive skills, says Colonel R Hariharan.
The writer, a retired military intelligence analyst, served as the Executive Director of the Madras Management Association. He has been corporate trainer for more than a decade.

Amit Shah's booth, seat management skills made the maximum difference. Advani had mentioned this in 2014 itself, for all the parties to take notice. Mehbooba said it right - Cong needs an Amit Shah to turn it's fortunes around. To win state elections and then to not score even a single seat in Parl elections within six months reveal amazing inconsistency.

Sabarimala might not have much of an impact on the election results. With the Sabarimala issue, ideally K Surendran of the BJP should have won from PATHANAMTHITTA constituency. However he had to be content with third place while Anto Antony a Christian candidate of the Congress won with a huge lead.

Apart from the efficient election management of the President of BJP, the new voters in general understand the issues faced in States and Parliament and vote selectively. We can observe this in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, where the elections took place for both Parliament and State Assembly.

BJP's strength is in its efficient organisational setup and support of disciplined and highly dedicated RSS caders.
As against these, the leaders of most of the Political Parties treat their Parties as business ventures ans fell into promoting their families to take over the Parties.

I feel among the pan India Political Parties, Congress still has a better future, provided they effect internal democracy and restructure their organisation, from bottom to top.
