Online Boom In Small Towns.

The landscape in small town and rural areas has suddenly changed with people taking to online platforms to shop and buy consumer goods like cameras, mobile

phones, belts, clothes, sunglasses etc. Earlier people wenrt to cyber cafes to find out about educational institutions . now most find it convenient besides less

expensive and more variety in online shopping

In small towns of UP such as saharanpur, gorakhpur, ballia many opt for online shopping , In bihar the govt has even imposed an entry tax of 12% on online goods

to protect local traders.

online shopping is turning out to be a unifying platform while online objectionable posts on whatsapp had earlier lead to communal tensions. one grouse that

biharis have - the sites such as flipKart or snapdeal do not offer cash on delivery option to them.

Some diehards of course are not lured by online shopping and would like to have a feel of what they buy and stick to the earlier mode of selection of goods .

They would like haggling about the price before buying anything with also the choice of easy exchange of stuff bought if found unsatisfactory later at home

which online sites do not cater to.There is nothing like the wayside shop or weekly sandai for these discerning lot.

Online shopping is a reality in India and many local shops especially in Cities are facing the heat of the same and some feel that it is better to close their shops as the trend is predominantly moving towards online shopping only and the people who come ot buy in shops are either the senior citizens or people who are not yet comfortable using the net for shopping and it is difficult to sustain their business with just these customers .

Almost all senior citizens are well versed in system and updating their knowledge with an ego to show themselves that they are able of competing with their grand children. Most of the "lols" are made by the senior citizens only. All lions (kizhattu singams )
