Nadigar Sangam polls: As it happened


Nasser has been elected president, while Vishal and Karthi have been elected general secretary and treasurer respectively.

Amidst much drama and intense campaigning, the South Indian Film Artistes Association, also known as the Nadigar Sangam, conducted its elections on Sunday.

Nasser, part of the 'Pandavar Ani' with Vishal, Karthi, Karunas and Ponvannan, has been elected Nadigar Sangam president, with 1344 votes. Sarath Kumar polled 1231 votes.

Vishal & Naser combines made a sliding victory.
It is quote natural only Pandavas are slated for victory.

Sarathkumar, ex-President, who along with his brother-in-law Radha Ravi, ex-general secretary, had a tough battle on their hands against their rivals, a team comprising five leaders – actors Nasser, Vishal, Ponvannan, Karunas and Karthi after the brothers-in-law had signed a controversial land deal with SPI Cinemas, to lease out the prime property of artistes’ body for 29 years and 11 months, to construct a seven-storey building housing a multiplex with one floor allotted for Nadigar Sangam besides a monthly rental of Rs. 26 lakhs. The rebel camp opposed the deal, alleged violations in the agreement and demanded the cancellation of the deal.
