[h=2]Muslim Man Became Sikh After Visiting Mecca Medina![/h]Mushtaq Hussein, who is now Syed Prithipal Singh belongs to one of the famous families of Mirpur in Kashmir. During the years 1927 to 1930, his father Mujafar Hussein decided to visit Hajj along with his son Mushtaq in order to give him higher Islamic education in Mecca Medina.

While doing his research work at Medina University, Mushtaq got a handwritten manuscript, Siyahto Baba Nanak Fakir, in a library there.
After returning from Medina to Mirpur in 1930, Mushtaq was shocked to see the communal violence in Kashmir. He was saddened to see that Muslim agitators made a Sikh Gurudwara of Kirtangarh as their target and destroyed it completely. During that time, Mushtaq was deeply hurt due to the acts of persecution in the name of Islam. Mushtaq was already inspired by Guru Nanak’s journey and His intention to promote welfare all over the world.
Due to repeated attacks by Muslims in Kashmir, Mushtaq decided to leave Kashmir. He then decided to go Lahore with wife and his only son. At Lahore, Mushtaq first studies Arya Samaj sect and then Christianity and then he researched a lot on Sikhism at the Gurudwara built at the site of Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s martyrdom. At the same Gurudwara, Mushtaq received ‘Khande di Pahul’ which is also called Sikh initiation.
Mushtaq Hussein became Sikh in 1935 and later, after few years he got huge following as Sant Syed Prithipal Singh of Patiala. He then dedicated his whole life in the service of Panth.
He worked a lot for the welfare of Sikh community and even went to England to help build the gurudwara in South Hall. In 1966, he was at the forefront of the campaign to return Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s personal weapons to India. He is now survived by his family in England and in Patiala.
