Windows Phone is a great OS overall, but is a bit lacking on Apps. People don’t use Windows Phone because it doesn’t have the Apps they need, and developers don’t make Apps for Windows Phone because not many people use Windows Phone. A chicken and egg scenario.
Due to this, Windows Phone isn’t able to compete well in the higher end of the Market, which is why Microsoft is pushing for cheaper Devices.
Microsoft has announced the Lumia 435 and the Lumia 532, which are the cheapest Lumia Devices till date.
Both have a 4 Inch Display with 800×480 Resolution, 1GB RAM and 8GB of Storage. Indeed, both share the same Processor Model, that is the Snapdragon 200. The one in the 532 is quad-core while the one in the 435 is Dual-Core. Also, the 532 has a 5MP Camera, while the 435 has a 2MP Camera.
They run the latest version of Windows Phone, which has additional features for Lumia Phones, named Lumia Denim.
Microsoft is targeting developing Countries, such as Asia, Africa and the Middle East, which is why both Phones are priced so low. The 432 costs 69 Euros ($40), while the 535 costs $93. It will be available in White, Black, Orange and Green Colors.
It is a good strategy by Microsoft to drive down the Price, but will it be able to combat the onslaught of increasingly capable Android Phones in the same Price segment?
