Smartwatches
are supposed to be second screens of sorts, alerting you of notifications and offering a small snippet before you decide whether it is worth it to pull out your phone. They are not designed to replace smartphones.

Smartwatches nowadays are coming with WiFi to keep you up to date even when your phone is out of reach, and some months ago, LG announced the Urbane, which was a smartwatch that had LTE. It was pretty good, but it ran webOS instead of Android Wear.

Now, LG has announced the successor to the Urbane, which has LTE but runs Android Wear. It has a 1.38 inch P-OLED display with 480×480 pixel resolution. The battery capacity has been increased to 570mAh, and the RAM capacity stands at 768MB.

It would be available in four colors: Space Black, Opal Blue, Luxe White, Signature Brown. The rollout would start from the US and Korea, and then would roll out globally. The price hasn’t been announced right now.

What do you think? Is a LTE-enabled smartwatch really necessary?
