KNOWING ABOUT SPMETHING ABOUT IN PANCHANGAM

dEAR FRIENDS Please anybody could clear this doubt about panchangam. When I see for Tarapalan , It is stated that I should count from Janma nakshatram to the date on which I want to do some good thing and I should divide it with 9 . I did it I got the reminder 0 Because the number I got counting from Janma nakshatram to the required date was 18 . But in the Tarapalan page the Palan for the reminders 1 to 9 is given . How to do it.
