Karnataka Political Turmoil.

The current situation in Karnataka is alarming and happening in the expected lines. This unholy Ghathbandan is shacky from the day one. This could have been avoided, if the junior Partner (JD-S) supported the senior partner (Congress) to elect the CM and run the Govt. with their support.

"JD(S) patriarch Sri H.D.Deve Gowda expressed doubt over the Karnataka government completing its full term of five years and said that he believes, mid-term polls will be held soon."

The people in Karnataka has confirmed rejection of these two Parties, in the recent elections to Parliament.

Even after one year the Ministry is still in formation Stage. The Government has almost stopped functioning. The coalition is so weak, every elected MLA wants to be a Minister.

No one in Karnataka is ready to believe the blame game, that BJP is instigating defections ! The Government is dissolving by its own folly.

It is time that Governor should intervene and call for the Assembly session and ask the CM to prove his majority, within a time frame or invoke Constitutional provisions to run the Government.

Sir,

History repeats…

What has happened in May 2018…?

BJP Government led by Yeddyurappa was struggling for numbers to grain majority in the Assembly ahead of a scheduled trust-vote. As he was facing defeat, he announced to quit.

Now it appears to be turn of Congress-JD(S) coalition Government.

Clouds of uncertainty looming over this Coalition Government

Will it survive…?

Medias are busy publishing live updates

Will the Speaker accept the resignations...?

Will the Governor act swiftly by asking the CM to prove his majority,,??

Blame game going on between Congress, JD(S), and BJP

Let us wait and see the development.

Local state BJP unit is openly indulging in horse trading to bring down this govt !! See the media reports, photos of local BJP leader accompanying the congress jds MLAs on private charter plane to Mumbai.

It is a sad commentary on the right wing supporters, that they are unable or unwilling to call out or condemn such immoral actions !!

Why the Congress-JD(S) MLAs are jumping ship.....???

It is an unholy alliance coupled with leadership crisis

Perhaps a temporary relief..

It is reported that with the Speaker rejecting the resignations of the eight other MLAs, the 13-month-old JD(S)-Congress coalition government received a much-needed breather to keep its flock together and reach out to its disgruntled MLAs to reconsider their decision to quit to Assembly.

The monsoon session of the Karnataka legislature beings on July 12th.

Hope these eight rebel Congress-JD(S) MLAs, who does not seems to have any control over the party leadership, don’t gather more strength and try again to bring another turmoil. lol

General public who elected these MLAs are helpless, there are mixed the feeling, and there are provisions of constitution, the rule book, the spirit and interpretation of the law, power-hungry politicians, money power, muscle power, etc etc

A political party, without a strong and able leader, which does not maintain discipline with its members, ministers, cadres, cannot hold on to power for a long time.

Very well analysed reasons for the political turmoil in Karnataka. As per Newspaper reports now the JD(S) is thinking of Supporting from outside to a Congress regime.

It is better Hon. Governor institutes provisions of Constitution and save the State from falling into a state of anarchy.

Now the ball is in the Court of the Speaker...

Now, he has to necessarily decide and inform the Court.

Supreme Court asks Speaker to decide on 10 Karnataka rebels ‘in the course of the day’

The Supreme Court on July 11 directed Karnataka Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar to meet 10 Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs at 6 p.m. and take a decision “forthwith or in the course of the day” if they inform him about their intention to resign.

A Bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi fixed a specific time (6 p.m.) for the meeting after senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, for the 10 MLAs, said the Speaker was “in the habit of making himself scarce” whenever the spectre of MLAs wishing to resign dawned in the horizon.

“On July 6, when the MLAs came to his office with their resignation letters, the Speaker slipped out of his office through the back door and made himself scarce”.

LOL

What is that one going to derive by simply posting these news here...?

They could have least, filed these clips in the Supreme Court and strongly argued the case.

Why this was not done....?

Of course, if one has to file such news clippings in the Court as evidence, it should be authenticated...?

Now who will guarantee authenticity...?

LOL

Congress' drubbing in the lok sabha polls and the ensuing leadership crisis in the Congress have led to a chunk of Congress MLAs see no future. Besides, Siddharamiah and his group has been known to unhappy with JDS leader being hoisted as CM in Karnataka, which in the first place was done by Congress with the sole intention of keeping BJP, which had won more seats than other parties in Karnataka state polls, out of power. How holy was that alliance and whole scale horse trading.

Congress instead of solving its internal crisis and cleansing itself first is still busy finding reasons from outside. It stoops to the level of disrupting Rajya sabha and blaming BJP - it still cannot stomach BJP win in Karnataka and in overall loksabha elections.

While Speaker seeks more time, youth Congress Leader terms resignations are nothing but defection.

Now legal implications of Anti-Defection Law will be discussed.

Karnataka political crisis LIVE updates: Youth Congress leader moves SC, tells Court resignations nothing but defection

Amid deepening coalition crisis in Karnataka, action shifts to Delhi on Friday with the Supreme Court likely to hear Speaker's plea to give him more time. The SC will also hear the plea of the rebel MLAs. Follow this space for live updates.

There seems to be no end to the political crisis in Karnataka anytime soon. We saw an action-packed Thursday -- the rebel MLAs in the crisis-hit ruling JD(S)-Congress coalition flew to Bengaluru to meet Karnataka Speaker Ramesh Kumar. The Speaker moved Supreme Court asking for more time to decide on these MLAs' resignation and Chief Minister HD Kuramaswamy put up a brave face claiming his government still has the numbers and he does not need to resign.

In what is being called Operation Lotus 2.0 in Karnataka, Mumbai played a bigger role not only keeping group of 14 Congress-JDS together but also keeping them away from Congress's troubleshooter DK Shivakumar.

and put off every attempt by the Congress-JDS leadership to arrive at a deal. Behind their unity is a BJP leader from Maharashtra - Prasad Lad, a member of legislative council.

Prasad Lad is the man who turned the table on DK Shivakumar, who stayed put outside the Mumbai hotel where the rebel MLAs were staying in his bid to mollify them. But, it has emerged now, Prasad Lad was the man standing between the rebel MLAs and DK Shivakumar.

BJP leadership needed someone who can fulfill this task. They found Prasad Lad, who despite being new to the BJP, played pivotal role in ensuring that the Congress's offer did not influence the rebel MLAs. Prasad Lad was with the Nationalist Congress Party till four years ago when he joined the BJP. But he has gained trust of the party bosses.

SC restrains speaker from proceeding further till July 16

The Supreme Court on Friday restrained Karnataka Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar from taking any decision on the resignation and disqualification of 10 rebel MLAs of the state's ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition till next week Tuesday.

Citing "weighty issues that have arisen", the bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justices Deepak Gupta and Aniruddha Bose said the matter will be considered by it on July 16 and status quo as of Friday should be maintained.

Congress resorting to ‘resort politics’ which has become routine now at Karnataka.

Where is the loyalty of its Party MLAs...

They don't seem to have any discipline

Similarly, leaders don’t seem to have any control over its MLAs

It may be because of poor leadership, in fights, greed for power, not honouring the commitment, leaving the interest of public to back seat, etc etc

We have a tendency that never to accept our own mistakes and shortcomings, but always try to shift the blame on others, blame game...LOL

Karnataka crisis: To keep its flock together, desperate Congress once again takes recourse in ‘resort politics’

Amidst allegation by Congress that BJP is behind the political turmoil, which has engulfed the state of Karnataka, it has emerged that state unit of BJP is also shifting its MLA Ramada Hotel in Bengaluru.

The 13-month old Congress-JD(S) coalition government in Karnataka has been passing through a critical situation for a while now. In an attempt to keep its flock together, Congress has now decided to move its MLAs to Clarks Exotica Convention Resorts in Bengaluru. It has been reported that Congress MLAs will be moved to the resort after the assembly proceedings.

It is going to be interesting with MLAs who can be easily lured by offering baits....there seem to be no principle, ideology, etc

But here we can find members talking about immoral, unethical behavior etc.. LOL

Medias carry news ...each Party blaming the other

SC issuing orders

Speaker seekingmore time..

What is the plight of Karnataka Voters……..LOL

They are paying the penalty.

Karnataka crisis: CM seeks trust vote; Congress, BJP go hotel-hopping in Bengaluru

Congress MLAs will be lodged at Clarks Exotica Convention Resorts while those of the BJP will stay at Ramada Hotel in Bengaluru.

…………………………………

The 13-month old coalition government is starting a collapse following the resignation of 16 of the Congress and JD(S) MLAs who cited a range of issue from allegedly being sidelined to declined ministerial berth in the government.

It is reported that HD Kumaraswamy of JD(S) is having Plan A and B.

Plan A being, getting few rebel MLAs back to his fold and get through the trust vote successfully and continue his 'Unholy alliance'(or)

Plan B is, to get into an understanding with BJP and it is reported that some of his Ministers are already on the job and working out behind the scene. He has already proved that he is an opportunist par excellence. Congress will curse its fate of depended upon an unreliable allay.

He already defeated the public mandate for a BJP Government in Karnataka.

This family appears to be a blessed one with luck striking again and again.

His father Devagowda once imposed as Prime Minister and with unholy alliance HDK was imposed as Chief Minister of Karnataka in 2018.

By the way, will the coalition partners keep to the spirit of agreement..?

There are people who wish let the Congress try to keep their home in order, before blaming others…?

Hope this Forum's Anti-BJP Brigade will get ready with enough ammunition to hit their target. LOL

The Supreme court of India has no business hearing the case between the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly and the recalcitrant MLAs and should have honourably recused themselves from hearing the case.

In stead, they have provided two eminent advocates Rohatgi and Singhvi an opportunity to make them a laughing stock in the eyes of the public.

Any thing that is happening inside the Karnataka Assembly or any other state assembly is a matter between the members and the Speaker. And the decision of the Speaker is final.

The Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly can expel the ten Congress MLAs under the Anti- defection law and those "honourable" idiots will not be able to fight another election for the next six years. And that is the power of the Speaker inside the Assembly.
The turncoats and renegades from the Congress Party, are trying to avoid this catastrophe.
BJP is equally interested that the Congress MLAs are not tried under the anti-defection law, because then they will be of no use to them for the next six years.
The Honourable Judges of the Supreme Court must use their common sense and allow the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly to take action as per the Indian Constitution and not meddle in the state affairs.

Sir,

Well said.... but there seems to be lot of loopholes in the Anti-Defection law and there are eminent Advocates in SC who may try to take advantage of it.

Who is trying to take advantage of this crisis and who is going to learn lesson from this turmoil...??

To Avoid Future Karnatakas, the Supreme Court Must Lay Down Clear Principles

Voters cannot be cheated by MLAs abandoning the party affiliations on which they stood for election

The Supreme Court now has an opportunity to lay down principles which have evaded the polity so far and permitted constitutional abuse. The Karnataka case should not be declared infructuous but heard threadbare for the future, as the judges of the Supreme Court intend to do. Normally, it should not require a Supreme Court to do this. But in India it has to, because the integrity of electoral democracy is at stake.
