Russia has lost its appeal against a ban imposed by theInternational Association of Athletics Federations [IAAF] on its track and field athletes, the Court of Arbitration for Sport [Cas] has announced.[/FONT]
[FONT="]The decision means that the International Olympic Committee[IOC] will have more reason to impose a blanket ban on Russia for the Rio 2016 Olympics in the wake of the McLaren report that revealed mass state-sponsored doping at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.[/FONT]
[FONT="]In a statement, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said: "The Court of Arbitration for Sport has issued its decisions in the arbitrations between the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), a number of Russian athletes (the claimant athletes) and the International Association of Athletics Federations.[/FONT]
