Will you please also explain if not already done in the previous articles, about Mala yogam (all planets between Rahu & Ketu), kalathra dosham, kala sarpa dosham and ofcourse the major aspect of a horoscope i.e. sevvai dosham, whenever possible or point to sources where I can get information. Thanks in advance.

All of them except Kalathra Dosham already stand discussed in earlier posts. Please check older posts in this thread.

This Dosham is basically related to marriage matching. Hence the 7th house [is the house for marriage/association/partnership etc.] is all the more important here. We also study, 2nd & 11th from Lagna { because they are 4th and 8th house respectively from 7th house - the family and longevity houses for 7th house (if we consider 7th house as Lagna for this very purpose)}.

If any of the following is present in a chart it is considered as affected by Kalathra Dosham.

Venus is the karaka for marriage and its association with Mars would adversely affect the marriage prospects. Hence this combination is considered as a Dosham. If it happens in 7th house it is more severe. However if it happens in 4th house and that house is not afflicted by Malefic planets like Sun/Saturn, and has the benefic aspect of Jupiter, then it is considered as exception and not as Dosham.

Placement of Rahu in 7,2 or 11

A debilitated 7th Lord

Venus placed in 7th house ( Karako Bhava nashaya!)

Any debilitated planet placed in 7th house

Presence of Sun in 7th House

Houses like 6,8 & 12 are those from which results of negative Karma are fructified. So these houses are considered houses of un-favorable results and called Trik Bhavas. Association of 7th lord with any of these Bhavas or its placement in any of them, also amounts to Kalathra Dosha.

However it is believed that Benific aspect of Jupiter on any of such position holds power to nullify the effect of these Dosham. It is also desirable to have a Papa-Samya porutham matching before considering any such horoscopes for matching.

Ganeshji,
What is the result of the above kalatra dosham?

Like if Sun is placed in the 7th house....

or if the 7th lord is placed in a trik bhava like 8th house?

It delays or even negates marriage prospects.
Sun as we know is a cruel and authoritative planet.its presence at 7th house influences the charecteristics of the house and does not allow the mutual understanding, adjustments and consideration between the partners to prevail. Ego over rules the relationship and leads to breaks.
However in case the Sun is alone, un aflicted and vargottam in Navamsam it is considered good and such person will excell in his career and also in partneships

8th house is second from 7th and is Maraka sthana for 7th house. Hence it affects the longivity of expected result from this house i.e marriage, partnership or association

Thank you Sir. Is this prediction applicable equally to stri and purusha jatakas?

And is there any pariharam for the doshas arising out of these placements, or should they better avoid marriage?

And why does Rahu in the 11th cause kalatra dosham? I thought the 11th house is considered good for Rahu.

First of all, it is not prediction, it is the sequence of events upon which a chart is considered as affected by Kalatra dosham or not. Well there is no separate indicators for Stri/Purusha as far as this particular event is concerned, however Venus is considered as common Kalatra karaka for both men and women where as Jupiter also considered Kalatra karaka in a female chart. Again certain Dosha indicates multiple partners, so one has to be extremely careful while delivering such a prediction in case of a female chart, because in our country such a possibility among females is rarely welcomed.

I don't advocate Pariharams. It is always better to avoid or find a chart with matching dosha. But all said and done, now a days people don't strictly follow these detailed matching and prefer to go ahead if some level of matching is there. Shortage of quality matches (particularly in our community) may be a major reason for such lenient view in my opinion.

It is a typo error, Instead of 1, it became 11 and went unnoticed. Thanks for pointing out. Rahu in 1st house indicates obsession for self. Person will be selfish. His/her dominant and non cooperative attitude will never allow a peaceful association.

Let us discuss positions of various planets in a horoscope starting with Mercury.
[h=3]Effect of Mercury in various houses [/h]Placement of Mercury in the 1st house or Lagna, makes the native a scholar and expert in Shastras. Native will be soft spoken and will enjoy a long life
2[SUP]nd[/SUP] house Mercury makes the person wise and he earns his livelihood by his
intelligence. He will be a good composer, Lyricist and also an eloquent speaker.
Mercury is in the 3rd house, makes one brave but will have a medium span of life. Will have number of siblings but will suffer from fatigue and be dejected.
When Mercury occupies the 4th house, the person born will be learned and witty. He will be blessed with friends, wealth, and happiness.
When Mercury in the 5th, the native will be learned, happy and courageous. He will be blessed with children and will be well versed in Mantras.

6[SUP]th[/SUP] house mercury makes one hard core, rude and capable to overcome enemies.
Same in 7[SUP]th[/SUP] house makes native a learned one, with pleasant looks and also bestow him with plenty of wealth and a beautiful partner.
8[SUP]th[/SUP] house mercury indicates long life and a strong will and native could even gain commanding positions in army
In 9[SUP]th[/SUP] house it indicates a wealthy, pious and religious minded personality with little spiritual inclination. Also person will have very good command over what he speaks and would be an eloquent speaker
10[SUP]th[/SUP] house mercury ensures all-round success in life. Native will be learned powerful and virtuous and will all ways keep his word.
11[SUP]th[/SUP] house Mercury indicates a multifarious successful person in life. Whatever he attempts will end up in great success. Will enjoy long life
12[SUP]th[/SUP] house is not that favorable position for Mercury to be in a horoscope. It indicates misery for the native; he will be cruel, indolent and not learned. Will always face failure and humiliation.

Ganeshji,
Is this applicable even if Mercury is debilitated in that house? For example, what if for a Gemini ascendant, lagna lord Mercury is in the tenth house, but debilitated without cancellation, and conjunct malefic mars?

These are general specifications and applicable in normal way. Debilitation is a state of the planet and could affect the result giving capacity of the planet, but could not enterly deny it. Mercury the Lagna Lord in 10th house forms Bhadra yoga, one of the Pancha Maha Purasha yoga. Its placement in Kendra house also causes Neecha bhanga Raja yoga, but since you say it is not cancelled, that effect is also to be considered. Malefic effects of mars become diluted owing to its placement in Pisces being a watery sign. 6th lord in 10th house indicates a profession in law, banking ( read - money lending), or even in share market type jobs, hold high position under government ( Raja sevaka) etc. Mars/Pisces combination also indicate inclination towards spiritualism. 6th and 10th houses combination also forms Dhana yoga and influence of 11th lord or its combination makes it fulfillment of desires because of Dhana yoga. Any influence by yogakaraka planets like Venus or Saturn for this ascendant, will be further beneficiary for him. However a more reliable prediction could be done only after knowing exact degree of nakshatra in which these planets along other planets are placed and analyzing their influences.

Ganeshji,
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Somewhere I have read that in Einstein's chart, Mercury, though in the tenth conjunct with exalted Venus, does not get neechabhanga, since it is combust. Some other astrologers, however differ in this matter and say that the neecha remains cancelled. (He doesn't have Mars conjuct Mercury). About 6th lord in tenth, does it indicate that the native would have a better status of living in a foreign country? Also, doesn't it indicate enemies and health issues related to the workplace?

And a couple of other queries...Do you see neechabhanga in divisional charts also? And Do you consider exaltation/debilitation for Rahu/Ketu, if yes in which signs?

Thanks.

Debilitation of a planet is treated cancelled subject to certain rules. They are..

1.The lord of the sign where the debilitated planet is placed is in Kendra from Lagna or Moon. Certain astrologers also see it from the Karaka planet angle for event based prediction. For eg. for analysis of probability of marriage in a chart, they see it from LAGNA chart, MOON chart and also from Chart keeping VENUS as Lagna and look for possible cancellation of debilitation if any.

2.The Lord of the sign where the debilitated planet is exalted is in Kendra from the Ascendant or the Moon For eg., Sun is debilitated in Libra and exalted in Aries. In case Mars- lord of Aries is in Kendra this rule applies.

3.The debilitated planet is exalted in Navamsha.

4.The mutual aspect of two debilitated planets. (like minus x minus)

5.The Navamsha lord of the debilitated planet is in Kendra /Trikona from Lagna and the Lagna is Movable sign

6. The planet which gets exalted in the sign where the debilitated planet is placed in Kendra from the Ascendant or the Moon. ( for debilitated Venus, Mercury which is exalted in Virgo is in kendra from the Moon).

7. The lord of the sign where the debilitated planet is placed is in trikona from the lagna or the Moon.

8. The debilitated planet is in Parivartana Yoga (exchange signs) with the planet that owns the sign it is in. ( Eg. Mercury in Pisces ) (suppose in the instant case, Jupiter is placed in Virgo or Gemini)

There are some more situations, don't remember all of them right now.

Yes if 6-10 combination gets influenced by 12th Lord, foreign travel is possible during the dasha/antardhasha/pratyantar dhasha of Lagna lord. However settling down in a foreign land is analyzed through various other factors. Since 6th house is considered as house for enmity and health issues, that possibilities are also true. Like the person could get ill health from work environment - eg.. sanitation workers, staff on medical field etc.. However a stronger 10th house/10th lord and Lagna /Lagna lord could reverse the situation.

A combust planet cannot contribute Neecha bhanga. Neechabhanga is seen in D-1 only.

Rahu-Ketu gets debilitated in Pisces and Virgo respectively and gets exalted vice-versa. However many astrologers from South India, especially from Kerala, do not buy this argument as they believe these are just chaya grahas ( nodes ) and they do not have exaltation/debilitation points.

Let us now see the placement of Venus in various houses and its results.

Venus is a materialistic pleasure loving and entertainment related planet. It signifies richness, love, romance, passion, fame, and personality. It also indicates jewelry and other expensive luxurious items.

An un-afflicted Venus in first house it gives long life, healthy and charming personality, richness, excellence in fine arts, happy and contented family life. It makes the native academically well doing, a scholar and famous personality and expert in many artistic fields.

In second house, also it indicates richness, fame and native will be a great spender. Native will enjoy a pleasing and polite personality. Influence of benific Saturn on this Venus, works wonders and multiplies his savings. Strong eight house connections, opens the door for wind fall of fortune through spouse.

Third house Venus makes one expert in the field of art and music. Makes him a great performer, and an extensive traveler. 12th house connection enables one to settle abroad. Influence of Mars here will make the native an excellent writer and eloquent speaker.

In fourth house also Venus gives richness, luxurious house, peaceful contented life with all sort of luxury like many servants, vehicles and other comforts. Will be very much attached to his mother.

Ganeshji,
Thanks for the detailed information. I have a few more queries. If it interrupts your flow (as you are half way thru with the result of Venus in various houses), then I will wait :D

When will the results of cancellation of debilitation be visible in a person's life? Some astrologers state that it will be visible immediately after the age of 35. Or is it during the dasha-antardasha of the graha in debilitated state? or the one cancelling it? Suppose if a person is in the start of Rahu Dasha at age 35 with Mars attaining cancellation. Will he have to wait till the Mars AD, which is a long time ahead, to see the results?

You mentioned Bhadra Mahapurusha yoga earlier. I have read a theory that if the lord of the house where the yoga-causing graha gets debilitated, aspects the graha, the mahapurusha yoga gets cancelled. Do you agree? So in this example, if Jupiter aspects Mercury, the Yoga gets cancelled?

You are taking the Neechabhanga from Moon chart also. Is it applicable for all situations or only when the Moon is strong in the chart?
