I do not believe that people are showing off. We have a strong opinion and we are sharing it.
I never believe that I am better than anyone else, on the contrary, I have learned a lot in this site.
I learn every day, I like to challenge views, to understand it better.
I do not think it is a showoff.

Its not really about display skills or intelligence...most of us here express our opinions in ways best known to us...therefore you would find posts that are pregnant with information...posts that have a miscarriage and go off track..some happily crazy threads..some personal reflections..expert opinions by learned members..some sci fi fictional twist to religion..some other ritualistic threads etc..
So you have almost everything you can ask for here.
I wouldnt want it any other way..
Many a times expect Forum to be absolutely traditional and superstitious just to be August but I wont really feel that is what everyone wants or expects.
In between Forum can get a bit boring but a shift in the tectonic plates by a intercaste marriage thread can give a Tsunami of contribution once again.
May be some of the attributes you seek to bring out are self contradictory? Prudence many times demand that we should not be showing off too much courage (like the proverbial saying - "discretion is better part of valour"), life time experience severely dampens hopes of optimism, intelligence runs counter to experience on occasions (after all how many times we have been stunned by sheer
stupidity in real life).
The best way to be a participant, if one has the will and time for it, would be in my experience to needle the poster and you will get a plethora of responses but you may also get adjectives like cretins and termites (put in milder forms like "usual suspects emerging from the wood etc")
