Have we wondered what it is to be born in a brahmin community?
To start with ,waking up early at 5am or so in partial darkness even on holidays .
Have or make filter coffee.
Put up with relatives who read only 'The Hindu' and discuss only education and bank interest rates
Bragging relatives who talk about children in US or canada. Also talking about brahmin achievers abroad is also included.
Men in veshtis and caste signs talking about scriptures , holy men visiting the town and how the world has gone downhill due to slide in dharma.
Women is silks, jasmine flowers in hair with huge bindis and talking of gold bangles or ear drops, kolams in the same breath talking of films and TV serials.
Radio /TV belting out suprapadham, religeous lectures by holy men wearing huge caste signs in the backdrop.
And then unknown brahmins asking whether you are married after finding out your edu, career profiles.
Somehow marriage is very high on every brahmins mind.
It seems their world would come to a dead stop if a neighbouring girl or boy is not married
Bachelor Boy in their view is a menace to society, an educated working girl someone just waiting to escape to any place which borders on hell having lot of undesirable
NBs.
Most have a ghetto mentality of not wanting to mix with anyone other than a brahmin unless it is a compulsion like office work or buying vegetables etc.
