India 2019 Elections - Harischandran effect in play !!

PS: This post is absolutely NOT about any of the supporters in this forum. I know most are retired, or NRIs or are/were salaried. Hence were/are not corrupt. So don't take this personally and launch a war here. Appreciate the consideration. LOL.

Context:

The Bradley effect (less commonly the Wilder effect)[1][2] is a theory concerning observed discrepancies between voter opinion polls and election outcomes in some United States government elections where a white candidate and a non-white candidate run against each other.[3][4][5] The theory proposes that some voters who intend to vote for the white candidate would nonetheless tell pollsters that they are undecided or likely to vote for the non-white candidate. It was named after Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, an African-American who lost the 1982 California governor's race despite being ahead in voter polls going into the elections.[6]

Now let's come to the Indian 2019 elections. Similar to the Bradley effect, we can now coin the Harishchandran effect. LOL.

Most of india have been corrupt from time immemorial. And all of us know this. All parties are corrupt and there are no holy cows.

But after the historic Anna Hazare anti corruption movement and demonetisation, most Indians want to be seen as honest. Though corruption is rampant in govt, cops take money as usual, businesses faked invoices and claimed GST refunds, private sector corruption, etc.., outwardly they had to be seen as honest. And due to the all invasive IT notices, people are scared to share their real views. As per anti corruption act, whistleblowers can call and give details of people in their neighbourhood, and IT will launch investigation. Hence real fear in people at large.

So the best way to claumafage their dishonest dealings is to loudly proclaim that they support this govt and all corrupt elements should be rooted out. So the hilarious situation we have is the corrupt are some of the loudest supporters of the anti corruption movement while they continue to evade tax, etc...LOL.

The younger generation is also caught up in this mess. Though most have no jobs, they are showing support for this govt online as their parents or people in their family are corrupt. Hence better not to get any unwarranted attention on them by criticing the govt.

Hence In the pre poll surveys, the corrupt or voters associated with corrupt families most likely will say they support the govt but in reality will vote against in the elections, leading to the harishchandran effect !!

Despite the terror attack and the surge in nationalism, my view is this govt will lose badly in the upcoming elections due to this hilarious harishchandras effect!! Not to forget, the economy is in doldrums, farmers are deep distress, 45 yr Hugh unemployment, trader distress, etc.. There is a volcanic anger under the surface and this wil, come into effect during elections.

Let's see how this election pans out. As I said, this will be the most interesting and consequential one in our lifetime !!!

Anyone opposing this govt for any reason is branded as corrupt or supporting the corrupt. Similarly anyone supporting opposition parties are branded.

And because of this hilarious Harishchandran effect, the real honest folks are also unable to criticise this govt. LOL.

This is the reason why most don't want to talk about demonetisation and GST, nor about lynchings, hate rhetoric, etc.

That's why despite repeated pre poll surveys, none of these issues come up and people are left wondering and asking questions - why aren't people protesting if these policies are impacting them badly.

No one wants to openly go against this govt. But they showed their real alignment in the assembly elections where congress recovered significant vote share and won them.

LOL

In short, this will explain all the strange and hilarious anomalies that have crept into our society :-

Due to the loud shout outs and support by the corrupt, the honest are also affected by this effect. Hence this applies to most of the people.

1. Despite business being down, traders don't want to blame the govt. They justify saying, short term pain is a must for reforming society. Recently I read a article saying restaurant owners are taking a rally saying let's give one more chance for this govt after series of IT raids. Hilarious and sad. LOL.

2. Indians who cribbed about non performance of all our previous govts - used to routinely blame political parties, blame politicians, blame bureaucrats, etc.., are suddenly silent. They are supportive of this govt despite such disastrous economic mess. They talk about everything but performance.

3. Obviously the govt cannot be corrupt on Rafele. LOL. Because it dents their own harishchandran narrative. So people have to vehemently deny this despite overwhelming evidence. LOL.

4. Social media is filled up hundreds of messages asking - when will Rahul take leave and give everyone a breather on rafale. Media trending rahulfaknews. LOL.

5. Supporting the govt is seen as nationalists and opposing is seen as anti nationalists, Nationalists are honest and anti nationalists are dishonest. LOL.

Hence, despite the severe beating people are taking everyday due to the disastrous economy, they want to be seen as harishchandras !!!

LOL.

Finally the terrible hate rhetoric, lynchings, etc.have to be brushed aside as fringe elements. Otherwise it paints the supporters as bigots which in reality most are not.

You are saturating this thread with your repeat posts! I get it. You hate Modi and the BJP and using some hypothesis to seek comfort that Modi will lose 'badly' simply because most people being corrupt will vote against him, but mislead the polls by claiming they are for him. Kind of ironic that you are indirectly suggesting that corrupt ones will vote against Modi because of his anti-corruption drive given that he is honest and trying to drain the swamp!

India is a land of 1.3 billion people and the corrupt ones are in the minority. Some are driven to corruption because the system encourages it and there is lack of deterrent. Most white color and the labor class are honest by default given lack opportunity or fear of divine retribution. Yes, many Brahmins have a built in integrity given their die-hard belief in Karma.

Modi has been a difference maker. He doesn't have children or siblings to promote, unlike the corrupt gang of 14, each of them with father and son/daughter team heading their party, plus the anti-national vote banks representing the predatory Abrahamic marauders (Vatican, Evangelicals, Islamists), who have terrorized and colonized the Hindustan for 800 years and, in the current era, though their convents, colleges, Madrasa and powerful media empire served ably by the Indian foot soldiers, who promote the global, subterranean, 'break-India' forces.

Congress has been relying on Abrahamic vote banks and the likes of anti-Brahmin DMK and its many avatars) to the point the Mosques and Churches receive special privileges and protection denied to the Hindu temples. They are emboldened to the point they brazenly promote separatism (e.g. Tamil Nationalism), conversions and attacks on Hindus who resist (the slaughter of Ramalingam in Kumbakonam by a Muslim gang when he resisted conversion is a case in point).

Brahmins opposing Modi are either misinformed, can't get over the Congress nostalgia or wedded to their false sense of elitist moral high ground to the point of hugging Pakistanis despite numerous terror attacks (e.g. Mani Shankar Iyer) or they are beholden to that pathetic N.Ram who, perhaps, should rename 'The Hindu' as 'Chidambaram Express'!

Once Jayaprakash Narayanan proposed partyless democracy. Election times are open display of worst form of bribing voters. How come some parties can give as much as Rs 50,000 per vote? Unless this garguntam corruption is stopped, we cannot think of eradication of corruption from all walks of life.

I do not hate Modi nor BJP. My first post against this govt was criticing the demonetisation policy in early 2017 And then about GST in 2018, etc..None of my posts are personally against any leader.

Having clarified that, Many of us are totally disappointed with the "disastrous economic performance" of this govt and have decided to migrate back to congress / mahagatbhandan :)- LOL. No choice lah !

The economy is so bad, farmers are protesting continuously for over 2 yrs now, traders have protested on a regular basis due to GST. Jobless is at 45 yr high as per govt report.

Banks are under sever NPA crIsis with ILFS and IDBI collapsing dramatically. Institutions are under crisis - RBI gov was pushed out unceremoniously, same with CBI director, RBI gov Raghuram Rajan, chief economic advisor Aravind Subramaniam, Niti Ayog chairman, Indian statistical group directors, etc...

My hypothesis is that there is a massive disconnect between the ground reality vs pre poll surveys. And similar to the Bradley effect, we have the harishchandran effect !!

First off the anti corruption drive is flawed because only opposition leades are being targetted. Keeping this glaring issue aside, anti corruption is only relevant if people are well fed !

If people have no jobs, and are hungry, none of the value systems have any relevance.

Agree, party less democracy is the only solution for a country like ours where people are used to hero worship. Only way is to remove the party and its heroes completely !! People will then focus only on "performance" rather than on rhetoric, personalities, heroes, emotions, etc..

LOL.

LOL. For the supporters, who routinely deny and thrash all facts, and discredit renowned journalists, leading newspapers, leading television channels, refuting this opinion is kids play.

But then, this may really be the truth :)- :)-

All farm income are tax free, and these real harischandrans are the biggest protestors against this govt ! Rightly so given the devastating economic impact of demonetisation and the subsequent price crash.
